Or at least that's what he told himself.

Five years ago, when he left Korea for America, he'd promised himself to never go back. To forget everything and everyone that had once felt like home. To sing a song of six-pence and turn a blind eye to the elephant in the room.

So why is he on a plane right now, heading back to the mother-land to join a K-Pop group for some nobody company? Why is he flying in hot to the source of all his problems, the blade to his scars?

Why isn't he running?

Why couldn't he run?

Now stuck with seven other boys, he feels trapped—yet strangely at home at the same time.

However, now that he's back in the so-called "Land of the Morning Calm," he finds himself seeing things he's sure he shouldn't be seeing. Asking things he's sure he shouldn't be asking. Feeling things he knows he shouldn't be feeling.

So why can't he stop?

Why can't he ignore it? Ignore the suspicious funds coming in to keep Royalty Entertainment running? Ignore the inexplainable pull to Park Taehyung? Ignore the urge to learn more about the father he never knew? Most importantly, why can't he just ignore him?

And yet, though he knows he should ignore those questions—run from them, even—he finds himself hesitating. Finds himself wanting to learn the truth. Finds himself finally wanting to accept the part of him he's been shoving away in a closet for so long.

Why does everything have to be so hard?

I am not an idol myself, and am unable to accurately replicate what they have go through. However, I'll try my best to be accurate through research!

Here is a list of things I'd like to address!:

🎤 THIS IS NOT A FAN-FICTION, it's an original story. Yes, I know that the next page contains the pictures of real idols, but that's merely to get a visual across to the readers. My characters are not based off of the idols in the pictures; the pictures were chosen simply because they looked the closest to how I imagined my characters appearing!

🎤 This is a BL (Boys Love, Gay, ETC.) story. While romance isn't the main focus of this book, it WILL still be a prominent aspect. So, as a warning to people who are uncomfortable reading BL stories: either jump on the rainbow and enjoy the ride or kindly stay away from the story. There'll already have enough homophobia in the story, it doesn't need to be in the comments too.
If you still want to read this for the concept, PLEASE keep any and all homophobic remarks to yourself! And yes, something like "I can't read this—it's not that I'm homophobic or anything, I just don't support them" counts, as you're making it a point that you refuse to read this because it's gay.

🎤 This is the first book of a septology (seven-book-series), meaning that whatever is not explained in this book will most likely be addressed within the next six!

🎤 I thought it would be worth noting that this book will be written in Konglish. Don't mix it up with it being the Hong Kong language (whom actually uses Cantonese as their language); "Konglish" means that it's a mix between (romanized) Korean and English words. For example, a piece of dialogue may look like this: "Hyung, come look at what I found!"
If this irks you, then please don't read.
