Chapter 20: Public Acceptance

- Third POV -

A couple weeks have gone by, the damages to Arendelle have been mostly repaired and the Queen had a important announcement to make before everyone begins finishing up the repairs. Everyone has gathered around, waiting for Elsa to begin. A few could guess what it is due to seeing what they saw and some already knew what she was going to say. Regardless, everyone will now know.

Our heroes currently stood above on a platform above everyone else. Nervous as hell, they take a step forward and look at everyone, hand in hand.

(Y/N): "Are you ready? Everyone will know across the land and some might not accept us."

Elsa: "(Y/N)... I'm sure. But that doesn't mean I am not scared. I am terrified. Terrified that no one will accept me like how  they figured out I had ice powers."

(Y/N): "Hey Elsa." I turn her head to face me. "It doesn't matter to me if they don't accept us because all I need is you. And food... and sleep... y'know the important stuff."

She lightly slaps (Y/N)'s shoulder as he laughs at his terrible joke. She then huffs and crosses her arms and this makes him have an awkward chuckle in response.

Elsa: "Jerk."

He grabs her hand again and smiles at her.

(Y/N): "Remember, I am with you. Now let's say our part and be done with it."

She nods and they take a step forward into full view of everyone that has gathered in the plaza. They had a podium set up to allow those in the back to see and make it easier for Elsa to have her voice heard.

Elsa: "Hello Arendelle. I'm sorry that these past couple of weeks have been rough with the rebuild, but I have an important announcement to make."

Everyone starts murmuring to each other as they guess. Elsa was about to freak out as she started sweating. But her hand was gripped harder and she looked to her right to see the one she loves. He gives her a wink and takes another step forward.

(Y/N): "Elsa and I are together!" A loud uproar was heard as everyone was excited knowing that the Queen has a potential king. "Also Elsa is stepping down as Queen afterwards." 

The sudden uproar quickly diminishes. Everyone still stayed quiet as the news was sudden and shocking. One of the council members stepped up and yelled at the top of their lungs.

Council Member: "The Queen deserves a King! A King that has land, riches! Not some random commoner!"

(Y/N): "You're right. She deserves the world, but she chose me. I truly love her." He looks at her in the eyes. "And nothing can change that fact."

(Y/N) gets on one knee as he faces Elsa. With everyone handling with the repairs, he was able to purchase a customized ring for the one he held dear to him.

Elsa: "(Y/N)! What are you doing? This isn't what we practiced!"

(Y/N): "Something I've been wanting to do for awhile now. Elsa... Will you marry me?"

He opens a random box that fell from the sky. Totally not Kristoff throwing it from behind the podium because this was planned in advance. Elsa looks frightened, a sudden marriage proposal in front of everyone. They don't even know if the people have accepted them yet.

But the look. The look in his eyes as he proposed to her hit her. It made her heart beat faster than is has ever before, but she knew one thing. Her answer.

Elsa: "Yes (Y/N). I will marry you."

He slips the ring onto her finger and kisses her in front of everybody. Everybody once again uproars in happiness for Elsa as the Queen had full support from her people. The couple knew that they had to speak with the council about the details, but they also knew that no matter what, they were coming out of the council room together and forever.

Council Member #2: "I would like the Queen and her... fiance... to meet in the Boardroom immediately!"

Later...

Council Member: "My Queen! Why have you betray the trust of the board to find you a suitor? Surely you believe that you deserve someone worthy of you, like a King. Not some... ice harvester."

Elsa: "I believe I- we made it clear that we love each other dearly. If you believe that you have control over who I love, I would like to tell you now that you are mistaken. I can love who I want to love, and (Y/N) is who I choose to be that."

Council Member #2: "What about the other kingdoms? Surely the word of the Ice Queen marrying a Knight will travel around quickly and they will be upset. It's in Arendelle's best interest that you choose a King or a Prince."

Council Member #3: "I agree with them. Arendelle's reputation has gone downhill since Queen Elsa has been revealed that she is a witch." 

At the mention of Elsa being called a Witch, (Y/N) polightly, but firmly placed his hand on the council member's shoulder, clearly ticked off at that comment.

(Y/N): "Say that again please?"

The whole room gulps and Elsa shakes her head at (Y/N). He gets the message and lets go and stands next to Elsa's side once more.

Elsa: "I know the recent events has troubled everyone in this room, but I assure you that everything will be fine in the end. My love for (Y/N) will not get in the way of my duties as Queen of Arendelle."

(Y/N) taps on Elsa's shoulder and whispers into her ear. The others present in the room was confused at what they were discussing but ultimately waited patiently. 

(Y/N): "Elsa. I think we should tell them now."

Elsa: "Oh right! Thank you for reminding me." She takes in a deep breath before speaking to the room. "I would like to make an important announcement again regarding the title of Queen of Arendelle."

Council Member: "Proceed my Queen."

Elsa: "I have decided... to appoint my sister as the Queen."

They all stood up in shock and were sweating bullets. Elsa and (Y/N) are just dropping bombs on them every second.

Council Member #3: "Whe- when was this decided?"

Elsa: "We planned for this on my home from the forest. Some new information was brought to my attention when we were there and it requires me to step down."

(Y/N): "Don't worry. We believe the best time for her to step down is after the wedding. It will most likely be within a month so that gives you guys plenty of time to prepare."

The silence in the boardroom was long. Nothing could've prepared them for this.

Elsa: "Anyways, I hope that will be all?" Everyone was silent. "We will be on our way."

Elsa got up from her chair and (Y/N) followed closely behind. As soon as they exited the room they were all over each other. Luckily no one was around as they are either working on rebuilding or they are in that room that they just left in. 

Elsa jumps into (Y/N)'s arms and wraps her legs around him. They continued to kiss as (Y/N) brought them to Elsa's room as it was the closest. Elsa makes her dress slowly melt away as they closed her door. Bumping into furniture, they were able to slowly take off (Y/N)'s clothing and get themselves on the bed.
