Chapter 2

"and it just sucks that she got different classes this year, I just wish we could spend some time together beca... Are you even listening to me?" Ron asked, giving me a light shove.

"I am. You're telling me how you're sad that Hermione got all of her classes with Harry and none with us and that you're scared you'll drift apart or she'll catch feelings for Harry" I said, trying not to yawn. Ron rolled his eyes before opening the door to the classroom. I shouldn't feel this tired on my very first day of class, but that's what I get for spending the whole night catching up with Hermione. If Ron only knew she feels the exact same way he does, but it's not my place to tell him. The last thing I want to do is get in the middle of whatever those two have going on. I wish they'd put us all out of our misery and just date already, they both liked each other, Ron is just too stubborn to admit it to her.

"I'm sorry, it's not that I'm not interested in what you're telling me, I am. It's just the three coffees I drank this morning have made no effect on me at all" I complained as we took our seats. I looked around the classroom to see who else we had class with before my eyes landed on Cedric, who was also conveniently looking my way. I smiled and waved at him. He waved back excitedly, flashing me his perfect smile. We had talked quite a few times over the years, we got along great, he's really sweet, and handsome, may I add.

"Don't worry, the bags under your eyes already told me" Ron joked. I gasped at his unexpected rude comment before playfully slapping him in the shoulder.

"Are they really that bad?" I asked, touching my under eyes with my fingertips. "No... I'm just joking" Ron lied.

"You're such a bad liar" I said, watching him shrug in response. I continued to look around, spotting Neville Longbottom, a good friend of ours, chatting with a brunette girl. I moved my eyes to the person sitting at the table behind him, immediately rolling my eyes when I realized who it was. Draco Malfoy. I watched as he ripped a piece of paper from his notebook before crushing it into a ball and throwing it straight at Neville's head. I shook my head in annoyance, turning my attention back to Ron.

"Where even is professor McGonagall? She's never late to class" Ron asked. Right on queue, the classroom door burst open, making the whole room suddenly turn quiet.

"Good morning, class and welcome to your first Transfiguration class of this school year" Professor McGonagall said as she entered the class room in a hurry.

"There's no time to waste, so quickly open your books and turn to page 96" She added. Everyone obeyed, pulling out their textbook from their bags. Ron and I, being the idiots we are, went to reach for our book at the same time, bumping our heads against each other in the process.

"Ouch!" Ron whispered, grabbing his head with his hand. We both looked at each other before simultaneously bursting into laughter.

"Did the text book say something funny to you, Miss Grimaldi? Perhaps you could share the joke with the class" Professor McGonagall said, suddenly making me forget what I was even laughing about. The whole class turned to look at me, you could hear a pin drop from how quiet the room was.

"Um...I...uh...." I suddenly forgot how to speak, feeling my face become hot from the embarrassment. "Sorry" I managed to say before sinking into my chair, silently hoping it would swallow me whole.

"Very well. Now, can anyone tell me what are the four branches of Transfiguration?" Professor McGonagall moved along with the class, making me let out a sigh of relief. I know that by the look on Ron's face, he'll never let me hear the end of this.
