"hey kageyama! you did amazing during practice today!" kindaichi says, smiling.

"oh, i- thanks, you too."

"i'm sure kunimi would compliment you if he wasn't so shy!" kindaichi teases.

"it's not that... i-" kunimi gets interrupted by kageyama.

"that's completely understandable." he says, smiling. "being shy isn't something you can control, and since it's only the first few weeks since we've all been in middle school, i understand not wanting to talk to an almost stranger."

"..oh, thanks for understanding. want to maybe get to know each other later today? we can go get ice cream or something.." kunimi hears a giggle interrupt him.

"ooh, ice cream. i'll love to get to know you."

"see you later then, kageyama!" kindaichi and kunimi walk away from him.

that's one sweet boy.

iwaizumi and oikawa laugh about something.

"yeah, let me ask him!" oikawa walks up to kageyama.

"hey kags, wanna get on my back?!" he says, cracking a smile.

"i.. uh.. sure?" he hops onto him, and oikawa uncontrollably laughs

"you two look so cute. oikawa don't you dare drop him." iwa says, taking a picture.

"listen to me, kageyama." oikawa says. his voice is a little more serious. "please, don't ever do anything stupid." he starts smiling.

"ok." kageyama stares at oikawa.

why would i do anything stupid?

afternoon practice just ended, and it's iwaizumis turn to clean up the gym. as he was mopping, he heard noises coming from the storage closet. it sounded like someone was crying. he slowly approaches the door.
yep, someone's definitely crying.
when he opens the door, he sees kageyama, balling his eyes out. his eyes are wide, staring at the wall in-front of him.

"woah, kageyama whats wrong?!"

"m...my dad." kageyama stutters. "h..he's com..coming home today..."

"what's so bad about that?" iwa asks.

"he..he's gonna hurt me, iwa. he's gonna kill me." this hurt iwa. he hugs kageyama.

"is your dad abusive?"

kageyama slowly nods his head, tears still dripping from his eyes.

"who have you been living with recently?"

"i have been by myself for a year now.." kageyama states. "he was out of town, but now that he's back, he.." tears bulge out of his eyes. kageyama just rests his head on iwa's lap, still crying like crazy.

"here, i'll give you my number. if there's any trouble, text me." iwa hands him a paper with his number on it.

kageyama looks up.

"o..ok." he grabs the paper and stands up.

"thanks, iwaizumi." kageyama says, trying to smile.

"no problem." iwa smiles back. "now, why don't you skedaddle home like the rest of the team did."

kageyama leaves the gym, and iwaizumi continues to clean.

tobio blocked iwa as soon as he got home.

but he didn't want to.

it's such a shame kageyama had to die.
