(expect a lot of time skips...they should usually be only a few days, nothing dramatic...I kind of want this to be like a TV series with different chapters as episodes, hence the chapter names being song titles...enjoy)

Avi heard a knock on the door of his classroom in the middle of his history lecture.

One of his students went to open it but Avi gave him a signal to just sit back down. He continued on talking, slowly walking towards the door.

"So, ultimately, in 1776-" Avi swung the door open to reveal Kirstie standing there with her hair down. It was in a ponytail when they came to school together. He stepped outside a little, leaving his foot in the door so it wouldn't close and lock. New school regulations said that every door needed to be locked no matter what, so simply accidentally closing a door would lock it from the outside.

"You need something?" he tried to ask seriously, but ended up smiling. She smirked in reply.

"I heard you talking. So what happens in 1776?" Kirstie flirted mercilessly. Avi chuckled softly.

"I'm just kidding. I just need some paper clips. I ran out." Kirstie said, leading up against the wall next to the door. She was currently having a planning period so she had no students in class.

"There are some in the staff room?" Avi gave a questioning look. Kirstie knew that, all the teachers did.

She swatted him lightly.

"I was trying to be cute and come to your room to ask you for some. Plus I know you took all the colored ones to piss me off." Kirstie poked him in the chest. All he did was smile and open the door wider so she could come in.

Neither of knew their relationship status at the moment. They kissed a few times, and even said I love you, but they've been saying that for years. He slept over at her place after the night at San Rosa. At the moment, they were perfectly fine without labels. But, that just made it even harder trying to explain it to Kevin, Scott, and Mitch. So it was just an unspoken agreement that there would be no PDA.

All the students saw it was Ms. Maldonado and started looking at each other. Some girls even began to whisper and giggle in the back. Lately, they've all caught on the something was happening.

Avi continued with his lesson, pointing to the drawer on his desk where all the supplies were. She took a pack and thanked him. A few students said goodbye to her as she left, and she waved back at them. Avi found himself smiling as he watched her leave.

Kirstie was at her desk, grading some late work while the class was doing a worksheet, when someone knocked on the door. One of her students went to open it, and she thanked them while she examined the paper in front of her.

She heard the door open but didn't look up because of the work she was doing. She was waiting for someone to say something and was surprised when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She let out a yelp and saw it was only Avi. Everyone started laughing. She rolled her eyes.

"Get back to work, you rugrats." she teased, and they all laughed even harder, eventually continuing with their task, most of them secretly eavesdropping on the teachers' conversation.

"You need something?" she looked up at him, putting the papers down. Now it was his turn for a planning period.

"Oh, you know. Just trying to see how my favorite English teacher is doing." he pulled up a seat next to her. She rolled her eyes again.

"Avi, I have work to do." she shoved him lightly.

"But seriously, I need something." he said, turning her attention to him.

"Can I have some printer paper? Like, only about 20. I need to print off some handouts for a class."

She raised an eyebrow. "Do you really need that right now? There's some in the staff room."

"But who was the one that stole my paper clips?" he raised an eyebrow right back.

"I can't deal with you sometimes, Avi Kaplan..." she shook her head jokingly, grabbing a small stack of paper off of per printer, handing it to him. She plopped herself back down onto her chair.

"Thanks," he stood up, and bumped her shoulder with his hip. "Have fun, Kirst."

"Oh, I will." Kirstie replied sarcastically, picking up her red grading pen again. Avi waved to some students who said bye, and winked at her as he left. She couldn't help but blush a little bit, and some girls in the back couldn't help but silently fangirl about it.
