3rd person POV, first year (past). Switches from the characters perspectives a lot, lazy writing soz. NOTE AGAIN, the stereotypes attatched to the houses don't replicate my beliefs. Also, nb Emile.

Janus in this doesn't have to lie, he's just a pathological liar, and he likes tricking people. Just ask me if translating the lies is hard.

Roman shot Remy a vaguely nervous grin as he walked up the steps, towards the sorting hat. He knew he would get Gryffindor - his whole family had, going back centuries. But it was still intimidating to be the first one up, stared at by hundreds of older students.

He sat down on the stool and the hat touched his head.

Ah, another Roe, it thought, I know where you'll go

"GRYFFINDOR!" It announced almost immediately and the brunette stood up with a smile, going and sitting at his new houses table.

Roman watched as Remy was called up, the boy smirking slightly, shades gone to reveal his light green eyes.

Remy wasn't nervous at all. People were watching, sure, but who gives a fuck about them.

The hat was placed on his head and Remy heard its voice in his head.

Where to put you . . Gryffindor might suit, reckless and bold. the hat said, as Remy's eyes met Roman's, scanning the Gryffindor table. But a lack of bravery.

Remy snorted at that, giving a guilty sort of shrug.

Ravenclaw could suit, but ah, yes, Slytherin. Cunning and devious. But not particularly ambitious . . ah, self preservation instincts, those will serve you well. Yes, it had better be..

"SLYTHERIN!" The house roared, and Remy stood up with a crooked grin as he sat with his new classmates.

Roman however, was disappointed. Remy wasn't in his house.. and he was in Slytherin. Maybe he had been to quick to befriend him.

Remus went next, quickly sorted into Gryffindor, and Janus was placed in Slytherin just as fast.

Janus went and sat near Remy giving him a small smile.

Remy smiled back, holding up his drink in annoyance. "They have no coffee, just this pumpkin bullshit. I don't know how they expect me to survive. Oh, I'm Remy b-t-w." he said, tacking an introduction to the end of his sentence.

"Janus. Or Dee. Either works, especially the third."

"Jesus you're confusing." Remy said with a chuckle. "I like you."

"I can't stand you." Janus lied in reply.

Remy raised a brow. "I'm gonna learn your tells now, you realise this."

"I have no tells, they're easy to find." Dee smirked, picking up a bread roll and pulling off a corner to eat.

"Oh just you wait, not a single lie is gonna slip past me." Remy said, matching his smirk.

The two finally stopped talking and looked up, having missed a bunch of sorting, including two Hufflepuff's called Thomas and Emile and Logan was placed in Ravenclaw.

Patton was next up, walking up with a cautious smile as the hat was placed on his head.

"HUFFLEPUFF!" it roared immediately, having barely touched the top of the boys curls.

Patton gave a small shrug and beamed, showing he'd expected it, and went to sit next to Emile and Thomas, two other new Hufflepuff's.

"Hey!! I'm Patton." he introduced.

"Thomas, pleasure to meet you!" Thomas grinned, shaking Patton's hand.

"I'm Emile, good to meet you." they said, also smiling, their smile lines prominent from behind glasses.

Patton and the two other Hufflepuff's got along immediately, comfortably chatting for the rest of the night, but Patton's eyes kept on straying to Logan, no matter how hard he attempted to hide it.
