Chapter Seven

I had just recently got home from school and I was looking through my closet for something to wear to Drew's party. I would hopefully meet some new people there. I have Lauren and her friends which were Bri, Cora and Leah. I was sort of getting to know them each individually but Lauren was still the closest one of them all. She was only supposed to hang out with me until I became comfortable but I think that we became much better friends than we had planed.

It was only 3:30 and Lauren was picking me up at 8:30. I had decided to wear my black skirt with knee socks and a navy blue crop top. Malik used to love when I wore knee socks. It kinda sucks whenever a memory is flashed back of him because it still kind of hurts.

Today was a time to move on with my life, here in California with all these new people. I'd honestly just have to forget whatever happened back home.

I started to think of the party tonight and even though Lauren told me Matt wouldn't show, I still had a small feeling of hope that he would come. It's not like we would even speak or anything but I just wanted him in my presence. That whole mysterious bad boy vibe was making me anxious, but a good anxious.

I hated how I wanted him to be there, I was supposed to be focused on Chris. I guess I just wanted him to see that kissing him meant nothing to me which was completely false.

Did I feel bad for using Chris? Yes. But being stuck with Matt on my mind all the time was not an option. Maybe I'd develop feelings for Chris and everything would be okay.

Suddenly there was a knock on my door. It opened and I saw my dad, eyes droopy and wrinkles in his forehead, he looked overly tired as always.

"Oh sorry to just come in like this but I just wanted to let you know I just got called in for work tonight so I probably won't be home until late, are you going out?" He asked while putting on his suit jacket.

"Yeah I am, just going to hangout with some friends. I shouldn't be out to late." He smiled and nodding at me to signal his goodbye.

"Have a goodnight, lock the door when you get in and don't wait up for me." He left leaving the door a crack open. Usually I'd care but considering he was leaving anyway, I didn't really care.

For the remaining time while waiting for Lauren I just read a little and listened to music, watched some tv, your average basic things to pass the time away.

It was 8:15 and I was in the bathroom. I had just finished straightening my hair and doing my makeup, a little more than the usual. Suddenly there was already a knock at my door. I rushed downstairs and opened it to see the most done up Lauren I have ever seen. She had red lipstick and a tight black dress with heels.

"Wow I feel under dressed.." I said staring her up and down. She puckered her lips.

"You look hot, everyone knows I'm the type to get overdone, it's just who I am."

"Yeah, and I love it," Jack came out behind her pulling her into a hug from behind. She laughed turning around to kiss him quickly.

"Anyways come on Abi, Chris is going to eat you up with those knee socks."

Um...Awkward.

I got into the back of Lauren's car and Leah was sitting there, her hair was down and curly, she was wearing skinny jeans and a black flowy tank top. She was on her phone texting.

"So Leah, who are you going to hook up with tonight?" Lauren asked while fixing her hair in the car mirror. Jack had taken the drivers seat.

"Uh, not sure yet. I can't decide between Mason, Luke or Johnson."
