9. Fights & Curtains

Start from the beginning

Ashley looked away hurt as she heard Louis walk out of the room. “I’m a horrible person.”

“No you’re not.” Liam came forward and sat down beside her.

“I didn’t once ask what he was going through. Now I just yelled at him for being so thoughtful and caring.” she turned to him. “I’ve never yelled at him Liam.”

“It’s normal for couples to fight Ash.”

“Yeah, I know. But in a situation like this the last thing we should be doing is fighting. And then again, I yelled at him for being nice to me. What kind of a girlfriend am I?” Ashley rubbed her arms to keep warm.

“You cold?”

“Yeah, a little.”

“Let me get you the blanket from the other room.”

“Thanks.” Ashley smiled at Liam for his generous offer.

“No problem.” he smiled back and left the room.

Liam walked away from the room and walked down the narrow hallway. As he did so, he heard music playing from upstairs. He stopped and looked above. The pop goes the weasel tune was playing softly and it seemed like it was coming from one of the bedrooms. Liam decided to ignore it and walk away. He knew it was some sort of a trap. He entered the large area of the house and walked over to the sofa where the blanket was draped on it’s arm. He noticed Louis was standing by the back door staring at the five graves in the backyard.

“You alright?” Liam asked walking up to him.

Louis turned his head around and nodded. “Yeah, I’m good. I was just thinking.”

“About?”

He let out a heavy sigh. “What if I lose her next? I don’t know what I would do.”

“To be honest, I don’t what to say. I mean its possible she could be the one to walk out of the house.”

“Which means the both of us will be dead meat.” Louis looked at Liam.

Liam gulped. “Uh yeah. I guess either way its unsettling news.”

“What do you have there?” Louis asked trying to change the topic.

“A blanket, for Ashley.”

“Oh. Well you should go give it to her then.”

“Yeah.” Liam walked away from the awkward situation leaving Louis in deep thought once again.

As Liam returned to the narrow hallway, he heard the same music playing. Ignoring it, he walked into the room to find Ashley lying down on the sofa. He put the blanket on her and stepped back.

“Thank you.” Ashley said smiling gratefully.

“You’re welcome. Are you ok?”

“Yeah I’m just tired and I have a headache.”

“Oh ok.” Liam went and sat on the other sofa. To pass the time he pulled out his phone to play around with it.

The tune got louder and Liam tried his hardest to ignore it. He looked up to see if Ashley could hear it too but she had her eyes closed.

“Ashley? Do you hear that?”

“Hear what?” Ashley asked slowly opening her eyes.

The music was playing very loudly. Liam wondered how she couldn’t hear it. “Um never mind.” He looked down back to his phone trying to distract himself.
