Cold December

I pull Taylor towards me and we both put our hands up in the air.

The figure comes toward us.

They're wearing dark clothing and a ski mask.

"Come with me," they say with what seems like a forced, fake deep voice, and hold the gun up to Taylor's head.

"You too," the person says the me.

They lead us away and push us into a car.

The person sits down into the passenger seat.

As they pull off their ski mask, they order the driver to go.

From their brief conversation, I've learned that the person who brought us to the car is a woman name Rebecca and the driver is a man name Jim.

I feel a hand cross the seat and rest on top of mine.

Taylor POV:
I find Ed's hand and wrap mine in it.

I'm scared.

Hopefully our bus drivers will notice our absence.

They have to.

Ed taps my wrist to get my attention.

Then, with the hand that's not wrapped in mine, he symbolizes texting.

Oh, phone.

I slip my freehand in my pocket to see if I have it, and I do. I nod at Ed, but don't pull it out because the screen is too bright, and Rebecca and Jim will notice.

The car stops, and they get out and open our doors, motioning for us to get out.

We walk into a log cabin, and they tell us to sit on the couch.

"They'll be here tomorrow,"

"Who's they?" Ed asks, but they don't respond.

"Can I pee?" I say, and glance down at my front jeans pocket to make sure my sweater was still covering any outline of my phone.

Rebecca rolls her eyes. "Fine- but no funny business. There's a little bathroom out back. I'm coming with you to make sure you don't run off."

Jim gives her a look.

"I'm going to stand outside," she says, and has me follow her outside.

"Right there, make it quick," she says, leaning up against the wall and pulling her phone out of her pocket.

I go in and pull my phone out of my pocket.

I open maps to see where I'm at. I quickly zoom in and take a screenshot of it.

Rebecca bangs on the door. "Hurry up, Swift."

I open up my messages and type in Mom.

I send her the screenshot with the caption "help."

"I'm coming in there in 20 seconds!" Rebecca warns.

I shove my phone in my jean waistband and flush the toilet. i get some hand sanitizer and scrub it as I push open the door.

"Sorry," I mumble as I walk back to the cabin.

We get back inside and I sit on the couch.

"What took so long?" Jim asks.

Rebecca looks at me, and Jim follows her gaze.

I shrug. "It's that time of month."

Jim holds back a giggle and Rebecca slaps his arm. "This is why you don't have a girlfriend."

Rebecca pulls out the couch, which I learn is actually a futon- and tells Ed and I to go to sleep.

"You're gonna have to share, sorry. We get the two bedrooms- and there are thin walls so don't try anything," she says, and her and Jim each go into one of the bedrooms.

When I'm sure it's safe, I pull the blanket up toward us and cuddle up to Ed.

"Is this okay? I'm sorry if it's weird, but I'm cold and it's December," I ask.

"Yes, it's fine," he whispers and wraps his arms around me.

"Thank you Ed," I whisper and then from his own song, I softly sing, "And it's dark in a cold December, but I've got you to keep me warm."

He smiles and pulls me closer as the wind blows. "If you're broken I will mend you and I'll keep you sheltered from the storm that's raging on."

We're then silent for a minute.

"I texted my mom our location," I whisper to him.

"Good," he says into my head.

As I'm holding her in my arms, I realize how lucky I am, just to have her as my friend.

"I love you Tay," I whisper once I'm sure she's asleep.

A/N: I haven't posted in a few days I'm so sorry!!

I was at my friends house all weekend, and then school started again.

But I'm 99% sure I'm having a snow day tomorrow so yay
