Chapter One

Alex’s POV

“Come on, Alex!” Sam was taking me on a trip to San Francisco. For what reason? Don’t ask, I have no clue. All I know is that a few days ago, she came to me and showed me that she got plane tickets for a flight this afternoon at 3. It was 1:30. “Alex, let’s go! We’re going to be late!”

“Woman! Calm down!” We got in a taxi and before I knew it, we were sitting in the plane, ready to go.

Sam’s POV

“Here you go, Miss Maggiolino: two tickets to San Francisco, California. Have a good day!”

“Thanks! You, too!” It took a few years but I finally managed to save enough money to keep my promise to Alex that I made in college. Not only did I want to keep my promise, but I really need a break from my now ex-boyfriend, Jon. He gets incredibly jealous over a celebrity who I know I will never meet in my lifetime. I immediately went to her house and gave her one of the tickets, “What’s this for?”

“It’s a surprise. We leave in a few days for San Francisco. I’ve already called my cousin who lives there and she said that we could stay with her for a week then we would need to get a hotel (which I’ve already taken care of).”

Before I knew it, we were in San Francisco, waiting for my cousin, Regina (Reggie/Reg). “Hey, kiddo!”

“Hey, Reg!” We hugged then I turned to Alex, “Alex, this is my cousin, Regina-“

“You can call me Reg or Reggie if you want. Nice to meet you, Alex.”

Alex’s POV

“Nice to meet you, too. Do you know why I’m all the way out in California?”

“All Sam told me was that it was a surprise. Are you guys all set to head to my house?”

“Then let’s go!” Sam’s cousin drove us to her house and Sam let me have the guestroom while she took the couch. “Are you sure?”

“Yes, I want you to be comfortable for tomorrow.”

“Why? What are we doing tomorrow?” Again, she said that it was a surprise. “Woman, enough with the surprises, and tell me what's going on.” Naturally, she refused, then suggested that we get some sleep. The next morning, Sam treated the two of us to breakfast, “So, what's the big surprise?”

“I'm not telling you until we get there.” I sighed, “You know I hate surprises, Sam.”

“I know, but it's worth it.” She had a bit of a sly grin on her face, but I just brushed it off and went back to eating. We got in a cab and Sam put a blindfold on me, saying to not take it off. Of course I resisted, but of course, she talked me into it. So when I finally felt the cab stop, she took the blindfold off of me and I saw where we were: The Anaheim Convention Center. No. Way. We were at VidCon. No. Fucking. Way. I looked at Sam, “Surprise, Alex.”
