"You have to wake up. Your whole family's waiting for you. They need you, Lauren."
What? Who's talking? Where am I?
"Listen to me. You have to let them know that you're okay. Your family's broken without you.
What happened to me? Why is it so dark here?
"You're in a coma. You've been unconscious for about two weeks now. Wake up. Go to your family. They're crushed without you."
But, who are you?
"That's not really important right now, sweetie."
How am I able to talk to you if I'm in a coma. Why can't I talk to my family as well?
"It's all in your mind, heart, and spirit. I hope that gives you a hint on my identity."
"That's right, love."
Why are you here? Why did you come and visit me when there are millions of other people out there praying for your help and guidance?
"I saw what happened to your family. You don't deserve this."
But, what about the others?
"I overheard your doctors saying that you might not make it after all. They had told your parents and siblings that you would've waken up a week after your brain surgery, but they lied."
Why would they do that?
"I don't know, Lauren. Now, listen to me."
"I'm giving you a choice. You can either come to Heaven, with me, or you can go back to your family."
"You need to make a decision right now, or it's going to be too late to save you."
My family... how are they?
"Your parents are heartbroken but they're trying to stay strong for the sake of your family.
Michael goes out every night to get a drink at the bar.
Christina is constantly blaming herself for this whole situation. She's slowly losing her mind.
Katherine is quiet, reserved, and takes everything too seriously.
Lisa has a really angry and dangerous personality now.
Amy is afraid of people touching her. Lay a finger on her finger and she'll start having panic attacks.
Alex works out literally 24/7.
Dani refuses to get out of the house unless she knows that she has to or if she wants to visit you.
And I don't know much about the three younger boys. Your parents made them go live at your grandmother's house for a little while."
They're falling apart because I'm not there?
"Their real personalities are slowly fading away because of the sadness, anger, and guilt in their hearts and minds. They miss you."
And if I choose to follow you back to Heaven, they'll be even more broken, right?
Thank you for everything, God, but I think my decision is pretty obvious.
"Just as I expected. Excellent choice."
I'm just not ready to leave them yet.
"I hope you're ready to see your family again."
I felt someone touch my cold skin and I slowly opened my eyes. I was instantly greeted by a bright and blinding light, causing me to flinch. I manage to sit up on my bed, despite the pounding headache, and I looked around the room. I heard gasps, making me turn my head to my right.
"Lauren! You're awake!" Lisa and Amy both said in harmony, disbelief in both of their voices.
I looked up at the ceiling and then back to my two older sisters. I smiled and sighed.
