June 1998

Dear family,

I know you may consider me ridiculous for writing letters when I have my phone, but communicating this way is just so much fun being here surrounded by all this history. Nat and I have settled in nicely, never before has a view from my window been so lovely. It's only been a week, but I can already tell my classes will challenge me. Even my academic classes are interesting again, learning from a new perspective is rejuvenating. Although I am loving life in England I am still counting the days until I get to come home.

Dear Family,

You'll never believe what Natania did! I just got back from dinner with... Zara Phillips. Now you may not know who that is (ask Gaga she could tell you) but apparently Nat went to school with her before moving to the states and they're really good friends! Sorry for my excessive exclamation points, but I just had dinner with the granddaughter of the queen, and she wants to hang out again!

Dear family,

I think Ms. Lewis likes me, if she likes anything, her constant disinterested tone tells me she doesn't. She picked me to stand in for one of the artists in the corps for Nutcracker rehearsal, and it may not seem that big a deal, but it means she has her eye on me. It's my first Christmas away from home, I'm going through all my photos to remind me of home. Maybe one day we can celebrate Christmas here in London together.

Dear family,

First I really appreciate the pictures and books Gaga sent me, we're nearing our first spring showcase and rehearsals can be long I may need something to do. I'm only in a few group pieces this year, but that's to be expected because it's my first year. I wish you guys could be here, I'm still not used to not running to mom after each show and getting twenty boquets of flowers. However Nat and I are holding out together, so please let Mary know her daughter is fine as well. I love you guys, and I'll see you in a few weeks.

Dear family,

I'm seventeen! We celebrated after ballet by going out to this small pub, nothing to worry about we're all professionals in training. The only damper on my day was receiving a letter from Papa Hutch. He wished me a happy birthday, but after years of ignoring my existence that's not going to work. I think I'll ignore it for now, how else am I supposed to respond to a man who hasn't seen me in ten years? It doesn't matter because I know who's important and who loves me.

Dear family,

I loved the pictures of baby Caleb, and I can't wait to meet him in a few months. I shared the pictures you sent me with my friends and they all gushed about how he was the most precious baby. You have no idea how relieved I was when you called me that him and mom were both okay, I still feel terrible about not coming home. I would have the second you called to tell me she went into labor, but I understand how important it is that I keep up with my studies. Make sure my new baby brother knows I love him.

Dear family,

Nat and I are coming home after a successful spring showcase. My stage presence has improved greatly in two years, I'm almost certain I will be accepted into a company this time next year, but I'm not about to get too cozy and cocky with this idea, anything can happen after all. All I know right now is I'm extremely happy with where I currently am in my life, and because of everything you guys have given me.
