Regina's house was gorgeous. Her hallway was well lit with a marble floor. It was large and had two stairs on its sides. Opposite the front door was another door, which seemed to lead to the kitchen.
It was much different than my small apartment that had everything I needed it to have, but nothing more.
Regina closed the front door and looked at me with a smile as she held the box of ice cream in her hand. She took off her heels and set down her purse.
"Welcome. Please, don't mind the still unpacked boxes in the corner," Regina said and gestured at one single box. "I live here for a month now and I still haven't had the time to unpack everything."
She kept quiet for a moment. "Well, that's a lie. I didn't want to unpack everything yet, because it's not fun to do."
I couldn't help but laugh softly and I took off my jacket. "Can I leave this somewhere?"
Regina took over my jacket and hung it on the coat rack before she gestured with her head at the stairs.
"Let's go cry," she muttered and again, I couldn't contain my smile.
I didn't know Regina for longer than an hour, yet I already felt much more at ease with her than with Walsh.
It felt as though I knew the woman my entire life, we immediately clicked. It was something about her that made me feel this way, but I had no clue as to what it was.
She walked to the kitchen to grab two spoons and walked upstairs. I followed her every direction and we ended up in a beautiful bathroom.
This entire house was gorgeous. Well designed and organized. It was evident Regina had a great sense of style.
I had taken off my shoes downstairs as well and we both climbed in the empty tub.
"I know this is what people are supposed to do once they've broken up with someone, but I feel like we deserve it," Regina said and I nodded agreed.
She opened the box and handed me a spoon. "So, how did you end up here?" Regina asked me as I scooped some ice cream on my spoon.
"We just walked upstairs," I said, knowing very well that she wanted to know how I ended up in the dating world, but I wasn't ready to tell her that story.
I felt comfortable talking to her and if things were to stay this way, I definitely would share everything about me with her, someday. But not just yet.
Somehow, it seemed as though she understood and she just smiled.
"Where'd you find Walsh?" She questioned instead.
I let some ice cream melt on my tongue as I looked at Regina with a slight blush on my cheeks.
"Don't judge me," I softly said once I'd swallowed the ice cream and Regina immediately shook her head.
"Of course I won't."
"Online. This dating app. It's horrible, I know."
"Oh, that's what you were so afraid of? I met my guy on Tinder as well. It was the last time I'm trying that."
I laughed softly at Regina's disappointed face and she licked her spoon clean before she cleared her throat.
"In fact, I'm done with guys in general. The next time I have a date, it's going to be a date with me and my couch, while we scroll through Netflix and are wrapped in a blanket while eating popcorn," Regina said and I nodded.
"That honestly sounds like the best date a person could have. A date in sweatpants and an oversized hoodie, that's the dream," I said and laughed as I continued eating ice cream.
