A day has passed since my first trip outside the village. Yesterday I just couldn't leave my bed, I was so tired. Which was silly since I didn't really do much, but I guess with so much going on. My brain was over loaded. Where on day three now, mother wasn't very happy with the fact that I stayed in bed all day yesterday. Aunty came around and dropped off a thick heavy book for mother to read, and ever since yesterday. She's had her nose stuck in it. Leaving father in charge of me, which is the reason I'm on my second trip outside the village. This time to the castle, I want to be more excited. But its five in the morning the sun hasn't even risen yet.
"Are you awake yet?" I had my arms wrapped around my fathers waste, as we where riding down a small hill. "Yeah..." My relationship with my father has always been different. My mother always treated me with such care, My father on the other hand. Is more relaxed. Mother teaches me history, art, languages and so on. Father taught me everything else. How to survive, fight and use all sorts of weapons. In other words he couldn't give a shit if fell on my ass. "Since your coming with me today, I thought I could try and get you contracted with a war horse of your own. Your old enough to know how to start riding properly." Again to early in the morning. "What, no yay or screams of joy?" He said Sarcastically. He didn't turn around, so I gave him a small pinch. unfazed by the pinch he chuckled, "I don't think you will ever be a morning person." He grabbed my arm, griping it tightly and swung me off Ray. Then Swinging me to the front of the saddle, to say I screamed was an understatement. My short lived high pitch scream, had Chassed away birds from near by trees. "Awake now?" Before I could even reply or do anything, he leaned forward. Telling Ray to start running. Father held me tightly, as I hold the horn of the saddle with a deathly grip. "Where going to be late, We still need to stop off and get breakfast."
With that Ray thundered past trees and hills. His passé never slowing down. His hooves stomped on to the ground, Kicking up dirt and rocks. War horses are different from the horses the humans have, a long time ago they where just normal horses. But as years went by they started changing. Now They can run at full speed for hours, never running out of breath and have amazing stamina. Perfect for battle, and running races. The races are held all year round, You have a destination you have to get to. Then make it all the way back safely. Anything goes, magic flying and not just war horses but any mythical creature can race. But you must always start off with your war horses and end the races with them too. Each race is different, they like to mix it up for entertainment purposes. The winner gets the most money and as you gusseted it. Last place gets nothing, you can win other things, But money is the most desirable. I have never been to race before, mother says there more like a bloody war to keep everyone satisfied in these times of peace. Father doesn't see the harm in it, it's a healthy sport to try out your abilities.
We make it to the big front gates, the men stationed out front looking sharp and saluting father as we came to a stop. "Open the gates!" They did as they where told in a hurry, the two big men pushed both sides of the gate this time. Leaving the view of the lower town. As we passed through the gates, The blacksmiths where already hard at work. The town was quite, many people still in there beds jealousy raged through me. A man shouted out towards father, he was a skinny man with fine features. Who had the bottom half of a goat, the horns curled up out of his black messy hair. "Oi! General Blackwood! I got some hot breakfast for ya." I felt fathers tummy rumble from behind me, "Perfect! I'm going to need two lots Cicero!" The happy middle aged faun walked over, "So this is the famous daughter I have head so much about! She looks like a gem of girl." my father nodded proudly. "Not a girl for long though Cicero. Lira will be attending the out coming ball, in the coming three days!" I was god smacked, and didn't know what to do. "Ah you must be proud! Well if this is the case, I will give you two of your regular orders on the house!" The faun raced off to his small stall, and came back with two paper bags. I whispered in to my fathers ear, "What is it?" Father smiled at Cicero and took the two bags. "Thank you friend, I owe you a drink at the tavern. Just give me day and time." Cicero laughed, "Sounds good to me, I will send a messenger bird your way soon." The faun smiled at me and gave me a little salute. I returned the smile, as we trotted off I waved good bye. Father hung one of the bags in front of my face. I smelt bacon and eggs, with a freshly baked bread roll.
