Chapter 21: Asgardian Brilliance
Director Fury had no work for me, after the New York disaster and the crisis of the past week, things had quietened down substantially. S.H.I.E.L.D had Richard Hammer and Alice Flinders in custody and was currently in talks with the Security Protection Agency (S.P.A) to form a peace treaty to ensure the safety of both their populations of agents – S.H.I.E.L.D being in prime position if they needed to resort to blackmailing the rival agency into an agreement, although I suspected they wouldn’t need to.
I was stuck at the newly built S.H.I.E.L.D Headquarters which had recently been opened a few kilometres from the ruins of the old one. I miss the Avengers, Steve, Clint, Bruce and Sky especially. I had grown close to them since I woke up and being away from them was hard; but it was my choice and they understood that. I couldn’t be at my best with Him distracting me. But I couldn’t let myself think about Him either.
I guess that’s why I asked Thor and Jane to come with me, they’d keep me occupied with learning about Asgardian History and Lore which I’d always wanted to do, ever since we learned about Thor and his other demigod friends.
“So who has the most power, Odin or you? You’re younger and have taken the throne, but he’s the allfather and created you all.” I frowned reading a short passage in a text book we’d borrowed from a library, we found it in the children’s fiction section –which Jane and I had a giggle about but Thor had not been amused, at all.
“The allfather will always have the most power; I simply take over the throne because he is ready to give it up.” Thor put simply. He’d been surprisingly happy to teach me about his culture since no one else seemed to know what he was talking about most of the time, I think he was just happy to have someone around who would care about what he thought and why he thought it.
“What about Loki? If he’s a frost-giant, why does he still have demigod powers?” I asked, I’d always been puzzled by this and this seemed to stump Thor as well. A little sense of pride ran through me and I remembered what it was like to be in high school in science class and having to correct the teacher –I’d always liked those moments.
“I assume my father gave him powers in order to help him blend in better as a demigod and not raise suspicion of his true parentage.” Thor said after a few moments of thought and I nodded, having come to the same conclusion in my own headspace.
The tutoring continued for a few more hours until it finally became too hard to focus and Thor and I went to find Jane, who had teamed up with Dr. Selvig once again to continue their work on the Einstein Rosen Bridges. With the help of Thor, who had knowledge of what was on the other side of those bridges, it was getting a little easier –but there was still the problem of the bi-frost having been broken. Even with the allfather’s dark magic, it wouldn’t be enough to keep returning Thor to and from Earth. The Asgardians refrained from using the Tesseract because of its beacon warnings that it sent out to their rivals that they were ready for another war. Thor needed the bi-frost fixed as soon as possible.
But no one could figure an answer on how to fix it.
“What if I went to Asgard with you?” Jane asked one day. “I could do some calculations from the other side, figure out how to fix it and then return with you.”
Thor held her hand as his eyes boar into her own, “I would love nothing more than for you to see my home, but I’m afraid you might not make it through the journey there. Magic wasn’t meant for humans to travel by, I do not know how humans would handle it.”
“He’s right Jane,” Selvig interrupted as she was about to argue. “The journey there could rip you apart.”

Over the coming weeks, I continued studying, focusing mostly on Loki and his origins. Some of it made perfect sense; other passages were muddled and made no sense at all. Thor helped me with those parts but some of them even he didn’t seem to understand. Today was a good day though, we’d found something that Thor could steadily teach me.
“Who is Enchantress?” I asked, staring at her picture on the page. She was very beautiful, with long flowing blonde hair and big green eyes –not to mention her massive breasts that seemed to be popping out of her armour. I raised an eyebrow as a thought crossed my mind; I wonder how uncomfortable that is...
Suddenly, for the first time in weeks, Tony popped into my mind. If he could only see this picture, he’d be supplied with jokes and snide comments for the next twenty minutes. My chest clenched up quickly but I shook it off, returning my gaze to Thor in front of me.
“Enchantress is an ally of Loki’s. Before the incident in Mexico, he had conspired against me once, I did not realise it was him until after Mexico, though.” Thor seemed lost in thought, reciting his memories as if reading a book. “Loki gave Enchantress some of his powers, but she was already a very skilled sorceress. I suspect that they were lovers for some time while they devised their plan.
“Loki wanted the throne for himself and decided that the perfect time to strike would be while our father was paying a visit to Midgard. Enchantress planned to make me fall in love with her so that I would be distracted from my duties. If I fell for her, than I would have to marry her –and because she was a peasant, if I married outside of nobility I would have to give up the throne and my place as crown prince of Asgard.”
I nodded along, wondering how exactly Thor evaded her trickery. Most of the men I knew would fall head over heels for the girl I saw on the page.
“Admittedly, I did fall for her at one stage. But I knew that we could not be together, that I had responsibilities so I rejected her.” Thor ended his story very quickly. Suddenly, I remembered the conversations we’d stolen from the S.P.A... “help me take down Thor and I shall reward you.”
I gasped and stood up. “Thor, it’s not Loki manipulating Hammer and Alice.”
“Of course it isn’t. He has no contact with Midgard.” Thor replied.
“It’s Enchantress.” I leaned over the table, “‘Help me take down Thor and I shall reward you.’ Don’t you see? She wants revenge!”
Thor’s azure blue eyes widened into icy orbs, “How could I miss that?”
“It’s so obvious its hidden.” I stated, “She’s bloody brilliant. There was never any danger here it’s all in Asgard! She’s going to help Loki again. We need to get you back to Asgard, and quickly.”

Author's Note: IT'S NOT LOKI, OMG! (that was Watson's reaction when she read and edited this xD)
So, what did you think?! Noel is taking pretty drastic measure in order to stay away from Tony both physically and mentally, and her and Thor are getting pretty close buddy-wise.
Anyway! I have a special announcement!
I have decided on the title for book three of Metallic Charms; it's called METALLIC LIGHTS. It'll make a bit more sense by the end of MH and you won't have to wait long, only 2 more chapters to go! (and the bonus content; speaking of, I need questions that you guys wanna ask Sky, Noel or Starlie!)
Next update coming soon! Until then, comment, vote, like!
