A/N: This whole story takes place a few years before Smaug attacks. I dont own any of the media that is used. I also dont own you, the reader, or the characters. Just the storyline that's it. I've had this idea for at least week and I wanted to bring this into a story. If I start delaying its because things are and have been a little chaotic. Also the story will be in first person. Just want to clarify that. This is my first official fanfiction. So dont hate me if I dont update regularly. Anyways enjoy!
"Mom, have you seen my charger?" I yelled from the top of the stairs.
"No, I havent!" Mom yelled back.
Shit. Where did I last leave it. I thought.
"I'll keep an eye out for it!" Mom stated from the front room.
"Ok!" I replied. I went back to my room and pulled my phone out of my back pocket. I check the percentage. 10%. Shit, I needed to find my charger before my phone died. I grumble in frustration. Where did I leave my charger? I began searching through my closet and under my bed, even on my desk but I had no luck.
I was close to giving up when I saw a blue cord sticking out from underneath my pillow. Quickly, I tossed the pillow aside and grabbed the cord and plugged the adapter into the outlet and plugged my phone. It buzzed indicating that it was charging.
While I waited for my phone to charge completely, I decided that reading would help pass the time. I walked to my closet and pulled out a box that had all the books that I had bought from previous years when I went to Barnes and Noble for some of the best books. I searched through the books until I came for what I was looking for. After pulling the book I wanted out of the box, I read the cover: The Hobbit. I never got tired of reading it. It has been my favorite book for many years while growing up. The book was given to me as a gift from my nanny who had passed away the previous year.
I close the box and push it back into the closet and sat where I stood and opened the book that I was so familiar with. As I began, my mind wandered to what it would be like to see Erebor before Smaug had taken it. I imagined the halls filled with people passing, drinking contests, and mining. But there was one thing in particular that made me want to see Erebor more than anything, to see Thorin in person. How I wished to see him for myself just to see if he really was what Tolkien had written him as.
I was so lost in thought that I had forgotten what I was doing in the first place. Shaking my head, I went back to reading the book in my lap.
I didn't realize it until my head starting bobbing from lack of sleep. Sighing, I close the book and get up from the floor walking to bed and climbing under the covers. Once I was comfortable enough, I shut my light off and drift off to sleep.
Everything around me was stony and rocky. Torches lined the walls of each hall as I walked around. I must have been walking for a while 'cause I bumped into someone.
He was tall and broad shouldered. He was also very well built. His hair went down past his shoulders and only two small sections of his raven hair was braided in front of his ears. His chin was chiseled and had full grown beard and moustache. But those eyes-those eyes were by far the only thing about him that took my breath away.
Thorin stood right before me. He was more handsome looking in person. He looked down at me and smiled. God, that smile made me want to melt right then and there.
Slowly, he walked closer to me and pulled me to his chest. He brushed a few stray strands of my hair out of my face and cupped my cheek. My heart was pounding against my chest. I could feel my breath catch in the back of my throat.
He leaned in close to my face and...
The buzzing of my alarm clock woke me up. Groaning, I slammed the snooze button. I sat up in bed and stretched and yawned.
God, my dreams are getting weirder.
I climbed out of the bed and went into my bathroom, turning on the shower. I stepped in and began to wash myself. Several minutes later, I rinse and shut the water off and climb out and wrap a towel around myself.
After drying off, I put on a pair of comfortable jeans and a t-shirt.
I check the time. 7:30 AM.
"If I dont hurry, I'm gonna be late for class." I told myself.
I quickly grab my textbooks and shove them into my bag. I check my room for anything else I might need. I grab my charger just in case my phone died while in class. I scurry out the door and head downstairs to the kitchen to make a quick breakfast.
"Can you drive me to school?"
Mom grabbed the car keys and went to the garage and climbed in the car and started it. I climbed in after and let out a sigh.
Once we arrived at school, mom put the car in park and looked at me.
"What time do you need me to pick you up?"
I take a short glance at her and answered.
"Somewhere around 2."
She nods and unlocks the door. I climb out the car.
"I'll probably be a little late. I have an appointment at 1:40. If I'm not here, feel free to take the bus home.
"Love you mom!" I say before shutting the car door. Little did I know that I would be taken somewhere mysterious yet familiar.
