[The Third Story]

A Trivial Story

Everyone, you didn't experience any damage from the typhoon, right? I hope there isn't any.

Due to the typhoon, I had no choice but to pause the interior construction of Flower Smeraldo (shop). I felt empty after the hectic days of going to the shop and checking the progress of construction came to a sudden pause. To console my feeling of emptiness, I came to the shop after dinner.

I also wanted to confirm that the strong winds didn't cause any problem to the windows and there's no damage to the construction materials. Fortunately, it was an idle worry and there was no problem occurred. ^^;

Looking through the window at the rain coming down on a pitch-black night, I became somewhat sentimental. (I'm not the only who's like this, right?)

But just then, I saw someone walking towards [the shop] slowly, holding an umbrella. I was surprised, but, because it didn't look like he had any bad intention, I just watched him while sitting still in the corner.

It was a young man. He stood outside the shop and looked into this empty place for a while. He didn't seem to know that there's someone inside. I thought about going out and talk to him but I couldn't take the courage. I think it might have been due to the fact-- although, it's also true, that I wasn't able to see his face properly as he was standing in the dark-- that I wasn't able to read any feelings from him. About 10 mintues later, he went back.

Strange, right? Would it be that he came to visit the store that was here before Flower Smeraldo? Or would it be that I imagined things because of the typhoon?

Please just consider this as a small episode that I want to share with you.

[The Fourth Story]

How Was The 'Smeraldo' Discovered?

Today, I would like to tell you the story of how the Smeraldo, the 'flower that appeared from a legend' was able to come out into this world.

To tell the truth, when I first heard about the Smeraldo 5 years ago at the Playing Cards exhibition, at that time, it was a widely-accepted theory that it was a flower only appearing in legends.
(I will post about the connection between playing cards and the Smeraldo separately at a later time).

But, one summer day. I received shocking news. I still remember that day vividly. I woke up in the morning and was washing my face when my phone rang. The caller was a friend I met at the playing card event that I had attended by mistake.

As we listened to the lecture together by chance, that friend and I were both captivated by the Smeraldo flower and ever since then, we developed a relationship where we continuously exchanged news with one another. I lived in North Dakota while that friend lived in San Francisco, but the fact that we liked the same subject allowed the distance to not become an issue.
