AN: Enjoy!

"So, bad man. The man who beat his mother and hurt him. Well, it can't be anyone but his bastard of a father, right?" Knott looked questioningly towards the rest of the gang, who were nodding. They were sitting around the room's living area, talking quietly so as to not wake up Arthit. After hearing everything that Arthit had revealed to Kongpob, the gang was trying to fill in the blanks.
Kongpob didn't know any of this and felt left out. "Phii, his father..."
Knott sighed, "Arthit and his mother suffered severe abuse at the hands of his father. For years the two of them stuck together but his mother was too weak to find an escape. It didn't help that she had nowhere else to go, no family or close friends, nothing. It was only when Arthit grew up and was confident enough in the last year of his high-school that he managed to get his father arrested. He, with the help of one of his teachers, who brought in a lawyer friend, made sure that his father was convicted not only for domestic abuse but also for other small thefts and money laundering gigs. His father has been sentenced to six years in jail and so has two more years to go."
Prem interjected, "That's what I was thinking as well. So, how come he is coming back?"
"Because his parole has been granted.." It was Tutah this time. He was holding Arthit's phone, where everyone could see the message that had been received. It was a computerized message sent to registered contacts by the law enforcement authorities regarding the parole of the respective inmates. Arthit's father will be out two days from now.
Bright shook his head as his forehead clearly showed worrying creases. He rubbed his face as he let out a frustrated scream. Prem patted his friend on the back, knowing everything was affecting all of them badly. Bright might be the joker of the university but he was honest and a loyal friend. His heart has always been in the right place. Bright slumped back on his chair, "First thing that prick will do is go after Arthit's Mae and manipulate Arthit to show himself. Arthit put him in jail, he will not let it go..."
"Ummm...Phii, he's not out yet, is he?"
Knott shook his head, "He will be on Saturday..."
Kongpob immediately got up, took his phone out. "Then, his parole can still be canceled. Let me see if I can do something...Let's just hope, okay?"
The seniors looked at each other, confused. How could this nong stop the parole? Although they didn't have any knowledge, there was a spark of hope among them. For some reason, over the year they had all come to trust this freshman.
Knowing the anxiety among the seniors, Kongpob decided to put his call on speaker. It would save him explaining things and also ease some of the worries that head-hazers had.
"Sawatdee Kharp Por," Kongpob said as the call was picked up.
A thick voice from the other end spoke, "Watdee son. This is a surprise. Usually, your Mae has to beg you to call her regularly.."
"Por! You are just exaggerating..."
The man on the other laughed, even as Kongpob spoke, "Por, actually I am calling because I need a favor, and it is very important.."
"Ohhh...you sound serious. Is everything okay?"
"Por, I...You are on speaker right now, and I have a few friends with me. We are calling coz, well..."
Knott could hear Mr. Suthiluck sigh, "Tell me Kong, what is it? You are not in trouble are you?"
"No no Por. It's just... One of my friends is very distressed. He's not himself at all. You see, his father, who was abusive will be out on parole on Saturday. After years of suffering, my friend and his Mae were able to get him locked up. He still has two years of prison time left, but his parole was approved. It's just we know this man will come after my friend and his mother..."
"Whoa! This is serious Kong..."
"Kharp Por. I was hoping you could help..."
"Son, if the parole is approved, what can be done now? The best will be to put in a restraining order and..."
Kongpob swallowed even as the seniors listened restlessly. "It's not enough Por. My friend, he..he's not good. He's really not ..." Kongpob choked and the seniors noticed his eyes glistening. Prem knew Kongpob cared for Arthit but this entire incident had shown the depth of his feelings. It seemed like the freshman's father also realized something because there was silence on the other line for a few minutes as the man thought things over.
After what felt like hours, Kongpob's father spoke, "What do you want me to do?"
"Errmm..I ..Por, maybe you could talk to Uncle Praseot..."
Mr. Suthiluck was quiet again for a few seconds, "Hmmm. You want the parole canceled, right? I will see what Mark says. I will also get the restraining orders in place..in case we can't get the parole canceled. Also, this will be needed when he completes his term. We can't expect him to remain in jail forever, right...."
Kongpob nodded, "Kharp Por, but it's still two years. We will work something out by then..."
"Hmmm. Okay. Send me the details, I will get things going."
Kongpob almost cheered, "Thank you Por, thank you so much! You are the best!!"
Mr. Suthiluck snorted a laugh. In a quiet voice he said, "And Kong, when all is straightened out, this friend of yours, I want to meet him."
Kongpob immediately fell silent, unable to respond. His father continued, "What? You thought I wouldn't know if someone's important to my son?"
"Por!"
When the call ended and everyone let out a relieved breath. Even if the parole went through, the restraining orders would somehow protect their friend. Kongpob looked over at Arthit, who was still sleeping peacefully, snuggled with the huge yellow bear. He couldn't help but smile as he felt the overwhelming need to protect this beautiful being.
Knott patted his shoulder, "He looks so innocent, doesn't he?"
The freshman swallowed, "Hmm. I hope I will be able to protect him..I just.."
Prem came forward, "You are doing good nong..." Kongpob saw Tutah and Knott nodding. Bright was somewhere in the kitchen getting some juice for everyone.
The younger man turned towards his Phii's friends. "You guys have been doing this for a long time, right? Now I can understand why you are all so protective of P'Arthit..."
Knott nodded, "This has never happened before like this Nong. I think the message really stressed Arthit. When Arthit felt the need to destress, he would let us know and a couple of us would stay with him to take care of him."
Bright handed orange juice to Prem, as he said, "Sometimes we would make it a big sleepover thing. All five of us would be here as Arthit went all Baby Oon on us. We would do a Disney movie marathon with popcorn and pinkmilk of course."
Kongpob smiled as he imagined the friends all bunked together, talking and laughing as they took care of their friend. It was not for nothing that their faculty looked up to the hazer team. This group of friends was really something.
