"Cherub, cherub
Bring me a angel
One that will surely
Protect me from danger."

"My beloved,
Never fear
For I will save you
And you will call me your dear."

Beatrice flew from tree to tree, looking for a "lost kid whom no one will miss if it's gone." At least, that was what Adelaide instructed her to do in exchange for a pair of scissors which she could cut her family's wings and turn herself and her family into humans again. She saw how the wind pushed her toward the tree that her family had snuggled in. Her wings were tired from flapping endlessly across the forest in search of a child that no one would miss. She sighed and let the wind carry her home. Her mother stood on the root of the tree, waiting anxiously for her daughter's return. She landed at her mother's feet, where she tried hard not to fall asleep from exhaustion. Her mother shook her head and placed her claw on top of Beatrice's chest and woke her up.
"I told you not to exhaust yourself, Beatrice. If you do this again, you shan't make this stupid deal with Adelaide. How do you know she isn't trying to trick you?"

The young bluebird hopped to a small hole in the tree and sat down with all of her siblings, who chirped endlessly to one another. She sighed and laid down to fall asleep. There were many chores to be done, and she was supposed to do them all. But her mother knew how exhausted she was, doing all this for her family because she recognized what she had done wrong, so instead of scolding her she wrapped her cold, tired daughter in a patch of leaves and watched over her.

Night came, and after night came the burst of sunlight that morn gave off . Young Beatrice woke up to the rays of sunlight that burned like fire on her face. She woke up in a daze, but she soon realized what she was to do. Today she would repeat the same as yesterday and hunt down the children that Adelaide longed for. She sighed and flew over to a clearing where a small creek stood and beyond that, rolling hills with nothing on them. She dropped down to the shrubs below and looked at her reflection in the creek.

"At this rate, I'll never be normal again..Why did Matthew have to decide to be so whiny?!...No, I was the one who turned them all into bluebirds. I should've just let him walk to the park...Whatever, I just need to find some children. How hard can that be?"

She smiled and flew away into the deep forest, leaving the creek to be as pacific as it always is.
"Cherub, cherub
I hope you heard.
Give the bird
An angel,
To keep her safe
And sound from danger."

The creek's waves grew bigger and the usually calm water now resembled more of a sea during a storm. Out of the waves came two boys, one with a red cone on his head and the other with a frog on top of his teapot hat.
Before I go, I want to tell everyone that the artwork that you will see across the story is not mine. It belongs to some wonderful Tumblr. artists.
Confused with "a clearing where a small creek stood and beyond that, rolling hills with nothing on them"? You may be thinking "but isn't she supposed to see the wall and the train tracks"? Okay, I'll explain. You see, when they go over the wall, they're still in the 'real world', but once they sink down the creek, they rise to the surface, which is placed in the Unknown. So the creek is the portal, not the wall. That's why she can see the creek, but nothing else.
