"Shane! No!" I turned around to look at Samantha, who looked like she was going to cry, and then I felt the pain. The excruciating pain.

"Liz...what...I-I d-d-didn't mean t-to..." Shane fell to his knees and picked me up in his arms. He looked at my chest, where my heart was. I already knew what was there. I wasn't stupid. I was going to die. I couldn't protect my family. I was useless. I ruined everything.

"Shane..." I whispered. He let out a painful groan and moved my hair from my face.

"Don't leave me. I need you. I didn't mean to...I don't know what happened. I'm so sorry, Love." He franticly said softly. I smiled and touched his face lightly. He held it there with his hand.

Shane's POV

I held my love in my arms as she slowly, but surly, slipped away. I gritted my teeth together and brought Liz to a chair.

"I know you're hurting. Let me take care of them and I swear I'll find all the help I can get." I promised her. She just smiled at me. She knew she wasn't going to make, hell even I knew...NO! She would make it. Kayla will die and I will die with her. I hurt Liz, so I don't deserve to live in this world.

"KAYLA!" I yelled. She laughed and got in a defensive crouch. I didn't waste my time. I jumped on her and punched her until she bled.

While she was down I figured it would be a good time to pull the steaks out of Robert and use them on her.

"I'm so sorry." I whispered to Robert and Kate. Kate looked alarmed at first, but then I knew she understood. She grabbed her beloved husbands hand and squeezed while I pulled them out. He grunted a little bit and I heard him say, "Thank you." I smiled and then faced Kayla, who was gasping at the pain in her face and ribs. I was sure I had broken quite a few bones in her tiny body. Good.

"Please, I give up. I'm sorry. I'll call it all off." She pleaded with me, but it was useless.

"I'll do any-"

"Shut up!" I snapped. She flinched and looked down.

"You are a selfish, stupid, annoying bitch, Kayla. You have done nothing but hurt her since she changed. And now I know why. You needed her for a stupid experiment." I said. I looked at her heart, took aim and threw it hard.

Kayla made a grunting noise and fell over with the thick dagger in her cold, icy heart.

Kayla was dead. Now it was time to take care of her little group. I felt my hunger increase as I approached a human. His fear increasing as I stepped closer to him.

"Leave. Now" I warned. His eyes went wide and he ran like the little insignificant human he was.

I jogged to Kate. She held Robert in her arms and rocked him back and forth and was shaking her head.

"I can't loose him." She mumbled. I nodded and went outside, where I found a little fox running away. I grabbed it and tore its skin so that its blood would leak.

"Put this to his mouth and help him drink. He should heal if we take care of him. She didn't get his heart." I instructed. The next thing I did was release Lawrence's family and him.

I finally looked at her. My true love. My only reason to be alive. Elizabeth.

"Beth?" I touched her pale cheek hoping that maybe she would respond to her old nickname I use to call her. She didn't respond. I listened careful and thankfully I felt her breathing.

"Shane..." She muttered my name. Just her saying my name gave me chills. I smiled and knelt in front of her. Her eyelids fluttered open and her gaze locked with mine.
