"You think you're prepared. You think you've done everything you're supposed to, study hard, work hard, keep yourself out of trouble, and then—whoosh! Something arrives out of the blue that you never saw coming. Something you never even imagined. Something that'll knock your little world off its axis. Something that'll either change your life for the better, or end it forever. Chaos."

 Chapter One

         My mother was dead.

That was something I'd never thought I would have to say, or at least anytime soon.  She was dead on the floor and my dad was crouched over her. I didn't know what he was doing; I just knew I had came down stairs after hearing a scream and i saw blood everywhere on the floor.

The only thing I could see was my mother's face and that's how I knew. Fear was frozen on her face and the rest of her was hidden by the dad's body. The sound of bones crunching and the horrible sound of slurping came from him. I didn't understand, was he, eating her?

He had his back to me so I couldn't really see but the idea sound way too absurd. I just knew something was wrong and I had to say something but it seemed like I was frozen, like something inside of me knew something was wrong that the rest of me couldn't comprehend. A chill went through my whole body and the insane pounding of my heart was almost louder than the disgusting sounds that were coming from my father.

I decided to push past the fear that was trying to paralyze my body and take a shaky step forward. Moving slowly forward I called out to him

"Daddy? What's wrong with mommy?" all the fear that was coursing through me made me reverted back to my child like way and before the words had even finished leaving my mouth I knew I had screwed up. Maybe it was because of the way he had stop his jerky movement all of a sudden or maybe it was the weird sounds that he made, like some kind of animal but I knew I made a huge mistake.

My dad was a very large man, like a bear. He was terrifying, standing at 6 foot 3 and 260 pounds. I remember when I met him and my foster mother for the first time, he scared the crap out of me. I was very confused as how such a small little lady could be married to such a scary man but I had soon learned that my fear was foolish. I had never feared him again as I found out that he was just a big old teddy bear but now that was back and stronger than ever.

He had turned around slowly with a low growl and when he fully faced me I screamed. I couldn't help myself; he was covered in blood, my mother's blood, but thats not what freaked me out. What freaked me out was the fact that he looked like a monster, like he was dead.

His eyes were sunken in and so blood shoot that they looked red, and from his nose and down his face was ripped off. It was just a bloody mess. He had no nose what so ever, you could see the inside of his mouth and his bloody teeth and he was giving me a creepy grin, or at least as good as he could with no mouth.

He moved slowly towards me making me take small steps back. I was absolutely terrified, my mother was dead and my father was now some sort of monster. I looked around to see what I could do, where I could go when my eyes landed on the front door that was only a few feet away from me. all I had to do was turn and run as fast as my little legs could take me and I did and just as I was about to open it a small sleepy voice came from upstairs.

"Reanne? What's going on, are you guys watching a movie or something?" my sister called out from at top of the stairs. My heart dropped, I had completely forgot that my two younger siblings were upstairs and here I was ready to up and leave them. My father, or what use to be my father, jerked his head toward the stairs, already forgetting me as something better came along. I screamed again trying to get his attention away from my sister but he ignored me as he made his way up the stairs.
