BALL parties hosted by the reigning family of Iladour had never been something people got to see everyday or very often. they were rare, like a flower blooming after a century. and for the Laurezacs, this flower hadn't bloomed for almost four hundred years. so, one could only imagine the diverse reactions of the people when the welcoming ball was declared. if that did not provoke a ripple of surprise and hysteria among the whole nation, it's impossible to tell, what could.

however, the pressure of perfection upon the castle and the people living inside seemed much more than one would assume. it had taken days for the royals to prepare themselves, weeks for the maids to garnish the palace and months for the renovators to polish the blackened and bruised walls of the palace.

but that did not mean the palace had lost its original gloriousness over the years. the people of Iladour had always cherished the grandness of its architecture and design, thousands of acres of land it sat across, the gardens, the fountains. and the way the sun awoke from the east and dropped behind the shadows of the enormous castle.

and just like that, the night of the ball had arrived. but the excitement among the selected just before the commencement of the function was busted when the lights went out with a deafening blast and the floor began to shudder. desk trembling. chandeliers madly dancing. it appeared as if a small earthquake had passed- leaving everything else unexplained. a rush of strong wind had pinned some to the walls or tripped them over to the floor. the mirrors had shattered onto the carpeted floor, panic rose up the throats and, it was only a matter of seconds, screams filled the entire castle.
