once upon a time in the peaceful and enchanting kingdom of Iladour, there was a king named Aegamar Laurezac. a young boy who ascended the all-powerful throne merely at the age of sixteen.
brave, compassionate and a true warrior by all his heart and soul, Aegamar was everything anyone would ever want in their leader. he was kind, helpful and above all, a fair-minded man.
but no good last for too long or had it ever? the only mistake Aegamar did, which without a second of uncertainty, turned out to be the most significant, marking the beginning of his fall, was the woman he chose to marry.
Falkor, a fair young maiden he encountered during one of his royal hunts. at first sight itself, Aegamar knew he had fallen head over heels for those enchanting purple eyes, the kind of colour he had never seen or heard of before. weeks passed in a dreamy haze but the flames of her fond remembrances never withered a shade. he couldn't forget, and how could he? she was everything he ever fancied in a woman - in a life partner - and as the time moved with its painstaking pace his craving to meet her only grew stronger.
and he did meet her ten days after. wasting no time, the king bent down on one knee with a square-shaped red box in his hands. lips twitching into a nervous smile, fingers itching to engulf her into his arms. the maiden's surprise was obvious quite. but when the shadow of surprise subsided, the confession of her own feelings wasn't too far either. Falkor declared her deep love for aegamar at the same time.
however, there was just one little problem. at the age of twelve, after her parents perished, she was raised by a kind religious woman, under whom she swore to serve the deity and never marry.
before the king's hope would shatter though, she came up with a solution as well. falkor asked him to give her a month to make everything alright. just one month and she would return to him, this time for always and forever.
the king agreed and with a parting kiss, went back to his castle.
All this time, Aegamar couldn't think of anything else, couldn't do anything without the chance of mistakes- it was like he was possessed by this maddening love and he couldn't resist. but no matter how impatient and bitter a month of wait made him, he stayed loyal to the promise he made to his Falkor, the love of his life.
as the time picked up the pace, summer rolled by, winter happily set out to cloak everything in glass pearls and snowy sheets. but the pain of Aegamar did not appear to cease. the wait of a few days turned into months but no sign of Falkor seemed to appear. and now when a year passed almost, the king was left with no choice but to marry someone else. after all, how long could the kingdom wait for its queen?
three years later, Aegamar finally felt like his life was back on track again. he was already a father of two sons and now his second wife, too, gifted him with a beautiful baby girl.
Aegamar felt like the happiest man alive- so much, it frightened him. made him shiver at the mere thought of losing literally anyone who was dear to him. and as if the universe could hear the whispers and quivers of his fear, Aegamar's world stopped spinning with the return of his first true love.
Falkor had returned, and the way her nostrils were flaring, the way she looked so red with raging anger dancing upon her face, she did not look very happy.
the truth of betrayal overwhelmed her conscious, fiery tears oozed from the corner of her same purple eyes. and when she saw Aegamar closing the gap between them, mumbling something she couldn't care to hear, a hand of her raised, asking him to stop where he was.
Aegamar stopped, however, not because he wanted to, but because he literally and physically couldn't move. not just him, everyone present in the court froze where they were. helplessly blinking and panicking behind their sealed lips. it was for the first time in the history of Iladour, the kingdom had witnessed a power so strong. who was she? where did she come from? everyone had the same questions on their mind.
"YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT KIND OF HELL I'VE BEEN THROUGH JUST SO I COULD BE WITH YOU-" she cried. "YOU HAVE NO CLUE. YOU NEVER TRIED TO FIND OUT, OR DID YOU?"
wiping those salty tears, Falkor ran her gaze throughout the glorious court before returning to the stagnant king, a hand on his shoulder, fingers caressing his angular jaw. a touch of guilt seeped into her eyes. but Falkor had never been the woman who dealt well with insults, and the king had done far too damage than he knew. it was too late to bring back the time and efforts she lost, she knew that as well, and she had to leave him with a lesson. and the lesson she left him with.
"impatient much, are you?" she whispered, twirling her fingers in such a way, black smoke began to flow out of her palms. "i've heard you are blessed with three kids? oh dear, poor you..."
the way king's eyes had grown so big with absolute realisation, it was obvious he knew what was coming next. and he was not ready. no one was.
"at the time we met, i was only seventeen," she continued. "and therefore, my dear dear king. at the end of the seventeenth winter, all your lovely babies shall fall into a sleep so deep they might never rise. the time will stop for them, their bodies shall never age. but their souls? they shall wander. in this castle. accusing you for the rest of their lives. and you, my dear dear king, you /will/ suffer. every second, every minute of your life, you /will/ suffer," the smoke had started to fill the room, reaching out to the far-far most corners of the castle.
"i curse you to watch your own blood slump into an eternal slumber and wander like a ghost. i curse you Aegamar Laurezac of Iladour, i curse you." and with a snap of her fingers, click, she was gone.
