Lucian brought me back into the “soul gate”. This time I was wary to touch the colors, which I now knew were souls. They were just so pretty and effervescent. There was a clear film separating us from the souls. My fingers ran along it. If I just pushed a little harder I could reach in and grab one. From my past encounters with them, I knew their color had something do with whether I could hold them or not. I pushed my hand through the layer. A smile made its way across my face. The souls made me feel so alive. As the souls passed through my hand, I could feel their heart beat. They pulsated as one when they glided along.  I doubted that watching them would ever become boring.

“Raine, are you listening?”I tuned in Erina, as she mused with a smile. I still couldn’t get over the fact that she looked like me.

“Huh? Oh, yeah. I was.” I lied. If I had to listen to them tell me what I had to do once I got into the castle, I think I just might have puked. How hard could to be to stick a knife in his throat?

“Anyway, as I was saying, he may or may not be awake when you get there. Here take these.” She tossed me two shiny silver daggers. Luckily, they were in their case.

“If that’s it, get going, love.” Lucian yawned. “I’m ready to get this over with. I have virginities to steal.” There was a thwack. Lucian was rubbing his head. It was a shame. He was messing up his beautiful long hair by doing that. I stared back and forth between them. Had Erina just hit him? I snickered. So, the girl did have some spunk. Well, I guess if you’re going to try and off a King you would have to be pretty fearless.

“Listen Lucian. If anything goes wrong tonight, and I don’t get to eat my amazing breakfast in the morning, I’ll know it’s your fault.” Erina glared at him. Ha, Lucian just got owned. The strangest thing was he actually listened to her.

“But, I’m not even going to be there! How am I supposed to control that kid?” Lucian defended himself. For the first time, I saw a flicker of annoyance make it’s way to his face.

They went on like that for what seemed like an eternity. I still had to find a place to hide the daggers, so I didn’t mind listening. There was an aura about them. I couldn’t put my finger on it though. They acted like brother and sister, maybe…No, that wasn’t it. Maybe Erina was just blackmailing Lucian. My thoughts flashed back and forth between their stupidity and my dilemma with finding a spot to put the daggers. I needed a place where they wouldn’t be seen.

Finally, I found the perfect spot to hide the daggers. It was just like the movies, but real! I pulled up the black dress Erina made me wear. On my upper thigh I took a leather straps and attached the daggers on each. It was perfect! Well, other than it being uncomfortable. I could deal with it though. The dress needed a few finishing touches. Before Erina could notice what I was doing, I pulled a dagger out of its case. Although the case was pure silver, the dagger glinted black. It seemed like it should have been the other way around. I sighed. I couldn't waste a moment.  I took the blade to about my mid thigh and began to cut a slit in it. When I was finished, I took a look at myself in the film. The dress was flattering on me. It was strapless, which was beautiful. There were also little silver filaments draped along my hips. Satisfied with how I looked, my attention was back to the blackmailer and the blackmailee.

“Ok, you two love birds, I’m ready.” I yawned. It was pretty late. The sooner I killed those guys the sooner I got my reward. They agreed to let my sister live with Erina over here. That way there would be no more verbal abuse from my mom. I frowned.

“WE’RE NOT LOVERS!” They shouted in unison. I took a step back. Both of them were blushing furiously. I laughed. Maybe I got it right.

“Sure, sure, whatever you say. Well, I’m off to kill his royal bitchiness.” I was still pretty amused.

“Have fun!” Lucian’s evil smirk had come back. He had to be thinking I was going to die or something. Lucian walked over to me and started whispering in my ear. “Remember, if all else fails, taste the rainbow.” When he moved away I saw him licking his lips.

“Ew, you’re so gross.” I went to punch him. Regretfully, he caught my hand just before it made contact. I rolled my eyes at him.

“No, bad Rain. Bad.” Lucian was talking to me like I was a dog now…great.

“Beware!” Erina waved. “I mean, careful. Be careful…”  They were right back arguing over something idiotic again. I think I heard something about a llama…but I couldn’t be sure. All I knew was that apparently I had to kill someone, because Erina was too weak to. I took a deep breath and exited through the souls.

On my way to the King’s bed chambers, I started humming the wizard of oz song. Random? Yeah, kind of. This was an adventure for me, so I had to have theme music. I probably should have used the batman one instead. It would have been way cooler. I was practically a ninja now, anyway. There was nothing but the sound of my footsteps through the corridor along with my humming. The torches barely lit the hall, which it made it a little creepier. I let out a sigh. No, I can’t let the creepiness get to me! I persuaded myself.

“Dun dundundundundundundun DUNDUN! BATMAAAAN” I sang as I jumped to the right, entering another corridor.

“…batman?” In front of me there was a soldier staring at me. We stood there staring at each other for a few awkward moments.

“Uh…yes…ermm…batman.” My eyes averted his. There wasn’t supposed to be anyone wandering the castle that late. When I glanced up at the soldier, he looked like he was waiting for something. I racked my brain for what it could be. CURTSY! I thought. My body moved to curtsy exactly how Erina taught me. I bowed my head and dipping down low. He seemed satisfied with that. The soldier nodded to me and stalked off. That was easier than I expected.

It wasn’t a long way after that. The next door I came to was the King’s. I took a deep breath. This was it. I went through everything I actually listened to Erina say. After that with a great deal of effort, I pushed the gigantic door open. Inside I saw an elaborate room, with a huge bed in it. The place was nice. It was probably the half the size of my house. The bed didn’t have anyone in it though. I frowned, taking a few silent steps into the room. The door slammed behind me. I flinched. They said that the King had something…a power maybe? Suddenly, I was being hurled backwards into the door. I screamed.

“Ah!” I winced as my back slammed against the door.  My body slid to the floor. That hurt pretty bad. I clawed at my dress for the daggers Erina had given me. There wasn’t enough time to get them out before I was being tossed to the ceiling. A moan escaped my lips collided with it. What was happening? Before I could fall back to the ground, I grabbed the chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Now I was stuck dangling. There had to be some way of getting down without killing myself from the drop.

“Well, well, well, I seemed to have found a lovely little thing.” I heard a sinister voice call from below. Glancing down, I saw a man that was probably in his thirties. He was wearing a robe of some sorts. The man looked pretty strong. It was like looking at a body builder amidst the beautiful scenery in the room.  “It’s quite a view from down here.”

“Shut up, you pervert!” I shouted back. I can’t believe he was looking up my dress.

“How about I help you down from there? I promise you a fun time when you get down.” The man was officially a creeper in my book. He tilted his head up toward me again. His blonde curly hair fell backwards showing his square jaw. Somehow it made him seem more malevolent.

“How about not.” On an impulse, I stuck my tongue out at him. “Tell me where the king is now!!!”

The robed man chuckled at me. “I am the King, you imbecile!” Not again, with the imbecile calling…
