"{Y/N}!" Luke scrambled over to you the moment you walked into the classroom. You were surprised, but followed him over to his seat next to Simeon. "You heard the news right?"

"What news?" You furrowed your brows. Sure, you weren't neck deep in gossip like Asmo, but you usually heard big news before the angels.

"Mammon and Courtney got married!"

Your heart literally stopped. Luke kept talking but you couldn't get past the first statement he had made. The world seemed to drown away as you closed your eyes and rubbed your face. Mammon, the demon you had stupidly grown a little crush on, got married to Courtney, a literal angel from the Celestial Realm.

"Sorry, explain it all again," you said once you had slowed down your breathing and sat down on the table. "He what?"

"So apparently they have been dating for a couple of months," Luke stated, unknowingly crushing your heart even more. You nodded and rubbed your temples as he continued to speak. "This weekend he invited her to go camping with him, but she told him that she wouldn't spend a night with a man until she was married."

"So they got married?"

"Yeah," Luke nodded. "He just said, 'Then marry me.' And she agreed! Then they... you know... Can you believe how irresponsible they are?!"

"I know Mammon makes some questionable decisions," Simeon pursued his lips. "But this is downright idiotic. I'm especially disappointed with Courtney."

"Are you talking about the two that got married?" Some random demon intervened.

You excused yourself from the conversation to allow yourself to think. As you kept picturing Mammon happy with someone else, you felt your eyes water. Without a second thought, you texted Lucifer, telling him that you had thrown up and were going back to the House of Lamentation.

For the rest of the day, you sat locked up in your room as you cried. You let it all out, screaming in a fit, throwing random objects from your room, eating ice cream straight from the carton, and laying curled up in your blankets. When the time had rolled around that the brothers would start coming back from classes, you cleaned up your room, hid your tear-streaked face as best you could, made sure your eyes were no longer red nor puffy, and forced a smile.

You were laying in bed, your trash can next to you so that it looked believable, when a knock came from your door.

"{Y/N}?" Lucifer's deep voice came from  behind the wooden door. You didn't respond so he opened the door to see if you were awake. "Ah, you are awake. Why didn't you answer?"

"Too much of a bother," your voice was hoarse from your screaming earlier, but it thankfully made you sound sick. He chuckled and closed the door behind him before walking over to your bedside. "What's up?"

"How are you feeling?" He sat on the edge of your bed and held your hand lightly. "Better, I hope?"

"Still shitty," you slowly blinked up at the ceiling. Before you could continue, shouts from the hallway rang throughout the room.

"Mammon! What the hell were you thinking?!"

"You seriously got married?!"

"You're such a dumbass! You barely even know her!"

Lucifer excused himself and eventually joined in on the scolding. You sat up as you felt some sort of burning sensation in your chest. The burn worked it's way up your throat and you began coughing. For some reason, you smelled something metallic and decided to cough into one of the unused tissues on your desk.
