With Dad so sick, we thought postpone

Though prognosis was still unknown

Not sure, we decided to go

Eagerly entered the wave pool

But what happened next wasn't cool

Something the lifeguards didn't know

-

Bounced to and fro, my balance lost

Struggled to stand while being tossed

I heard a voice, "Are you okay?"

In the distance, a knowing gasp

To save my life, the wall to grasp

I persevered and made my way

-

Overnight stay, my death defied

My father died, on the next day
