No one asked for this but I want to write it. I hope you don't mind. I'll get to requests soon I swear-

Merfolk were once a mythical being that people would often see swimming with the dolphins and often waved at the large ships that passed, a large smile on their face.

However, as pirates rose more and more, they started killing the creatures and removing their tails, hanging them up in their ships. They became more and more greedy, wanting the tails more and more and by god they were going to get them.

So, as years went on, merfolk became more rare to see. Eventually they were seen as mere myths.

Mizu was always interested in humans, despite hearing the stories from his parents. So when he saw a human swimming out into the sea, he couldn't help but want to get closer. The human had half white and half red hair, and a scar over his left eye. He was fairly attractive and rather toned. Mizu watched him swim out with some other humans, his black eyes watching in amazement. There was another boy with green fluffy hair, and another with blonde spiky hair.

It was a strange sight to see, since people usually didn't come to this part of the ocean. Usually the shore was kept filled with trash, but someone had cleaned it out. Mizu had always appreciated people who did that.

Mizu watched the males swim, keeping his distance. He longed to approach one of them to see what it was like in the human world. He wanted to know what foods they ate, and what types of things they enjoyed to do as hobbies. Maybe there were good humans? He had always been told they were all bad, but maybe that wasn't true. Mizu carefully swam closer to the half and half boy, unconsciously reaching out before jerking his hand back. "No, Mizu! They could hurt you!" He thought, shaking his head.

The boy noticed the disturbance in the water, and looked down to see a retreating hand.

"There's someone in the water!" He exclaimed, Mizu's ears picking it up. He panicked as someone reached out for his arm, and he jerked it away. He carefully swam up to the top, only showing his head. His hair was long, and covered his neck when he was above the water. So, he poked his head and neck out of the water and allowed his hair to hide his gills.

"Hey." His voice was gravelly. He didn't wave, due to his webbed fingers. He knew everything that was the difference between him and a human. He knew because he could never forget what the human that took his mother looked like.

"Hey!" The boy with the green fluffy hair greeted cheerfully. "We didn't know there was gonna be anyone else out here today!"

Mizu anxiously fidgeted with his hair. "I.. um.." He didn't know what to say. "I just wanted to... swim." He murmured, poking his head farther below the water.

"What's your quirk? I bet I could take you." The spiky blonde boy grinned, clenching his fist.

"Qu-Quirk?" Mizu asked, mentally cursing himself. He shouldn't have asked that!

"You don't know what a quirk is?" The green boy asked. He tilted his head.

Maybe these people were safe. Mizu could run if they weren't. "I'm not... human." He moved his hair from his neck and showed the gills, and swam back down and then back up, shooting into the air and showing his black shimmering tail. The half and half one looked amazed.

"He's a merman." Half and half said breathlessly. His heterochromic eyes followed the merman's movements as he sped forward, swimming around the males and appearing behind them before he poked back up.

"Please, don't hurt me." Mizu muttered, most of his body under the water. "I- I'll give you scales, but please don't kill me!" He closed his eyes tight and felt a cold hand on his shoulder.

"We're not going to hurt you. I'm Todoroki." The half and half male introduced himself. "That's Bakugo, and that's Midoriya." He pointed to the spiky blonde and green haired boy as he introduced them.

"I'm.. I'm Mizu." Mizu said, holding out his hand to shake. He hoped this wasn't a rude gesture for humans! Maybe he shouldn't have done it-

His thoughts were set aside when Todoroki shook his hand. "It's nice to meet you, Mizu. Will we see you again?"

"As long as you come to this part of the beach." Mizu gave a shy smile, his pitch black eyes squinting in the bright daylight.
