"Seungkwan, I can't count how many times you messed up with your dates and now?!" the lady walks back and forth while massaging her temples, her right hand on her waist.
Seungkwan keeps on scrolling through his phone not really minding his mom who keeps on blabbering in front of him.
He's just there, sitting and chilling. It's a normal scene anyway.
"Yah Boo Seungkwan! Are you listening to me?!" his mother growls at him, looking annoyed.
Seungkwan closes his eyes and heaves a sigh, calming himself before he utters his words. "Mom. I already told you. Stop setting me up for blind dates. I hate it."
"But Seung-"
"I said I hate it, mom." Seungkwan stands up this time. "I'm not interested. And if you set me up on another date, I will mess it up again. There's nothing you can do. So just quit it."
Just like that, he storms out of his mom's office and ignores the not so nice complaints. He took the hallways and rides the elevator to escape that damned place.
Seungkwan hates that place. He hates it a lot that every time he's in there he felt suffocated.
The whole building of Tan Co. is hell for him.
He dials a number on his phone as soon as he escapes that place.
It rang for seconds before a guy picks up the line.
"Hey, Seungkwan. What's the matter?" asked the voice on the other line.
"Can you pick me up?"
"I have somewhere to go but where are you now?"
"Just around the company's vicinity." Seungkwan mutters.
"Okay, I'll come to pick you up. Wait for me."
------------
"Seungkwan, I'm really sorry. I still have my classes for the next hour so all I can do is to drop you on your apartment."
Seungkwan sighs. His eyes were wandering outside the car window, his mind floating.
"It's fine. I can handle myself. Thanks, Chan." he faces the guy on the driver's seat and gave him a small smile.
"Are you sure you're fine?"
Seungkwan nods. "Of course. Hey? It's me Seungkwan you're talking to, sir."
Chan chuckled with Seungkwan's remarks. "Well yeah. You're the great, Boo Seungkwan."
They share a peal of laughter after and Seungkwan felt relieve all of a sudden. Having Chan by his side always make things better.
For him, Chan is his greatest friend, even though most of the time they bicker a lot.
Through the years they've been together as friends, Chan already knew a lot of things happening around Seungkwan. Including his parents pressuring him to date one of their colleague's daughter.
All the setup blind dates includes business.
That's the very main reason why Seungkwan hates it. He hates how can his parents manipulate everything around him. He doesn't want to end up like his eldest sister who married a man out of business and now going through hell.
Not just that. He actually hates that his life is already planned for him. It suffocates him and he wants himself free. He wanted to do what he wants and do his own passion, not because his parents told him to.
"We're here." Chan spoke up after he parks the car at the building's parking lot.
Seungkwan takes off the seatbelt and gave Chan another reassuring smile. "I'll go now. See you tomorrow."
Seungkwan gets out of the car and waves his goodbye to his friend.
The car flew off.
He's alone again.
He started heading inside the building and immediately takes the elevator. As soon as he presses his floor number, his phone rings which he answers in an instant without looking for the caller's name on the screen.
"Hello?"
"Kwannie!"
"Noona?"
"Did you already buy clothes for grandma's party?"
"Grandma's party..?"
The elevator opens and Seungkwan walks through the silent hallways. He takes out his keys and gets inside his flat in a hurry. His body feels exhausted all of a sudden.
"Yes?! This weekend. Oh my God, did you forget?"
Seungkwan didn't forget. He just really has no plan on attending the party.
"About that. I don't think I'll go."
"No. Mom will kill you if you won't. Also, Vernon's gonna be there!"
Seungkwan felt how his heart skips a bit. It's been a year since he last saw Vernon. His best friend.
"I know you missed him so I will be expecting you there. See you!"
The call ended and Seungkwan throws himself on the soft couch. He stares at the white ceiling for a couple of minutes.
Should I go? Or should I not?
His head keeps on chanting those words until an idea pops up inside his head. He sits straight up and grabs his phone again.
He dialled another number and let his phone ring, waiting for another friend to pick up the call.
"Seungkwan, what now? I'm busy. Moving apartments remember-"
"Jun hyung, find me a date."
