"The mechanism of a record is painfully simple," Senku explained, "We cause the needle to vibrate with sou—"

"Save the explanation, just play it!" Y/n exclaimed, too excited to wait for the logic behind it. After being deprived of any sort of technology for the longest time, she was clinging onto this. Senku chuckled and signaled to Ginrou to start spinning the gear, which he gladly did.

"To whomever is listening to this: I know not how many hundreds or thousands of years have passed..." The record said, earning everyone's screams of delight and awe. This annoyed Y/n, who's journalistic self was going to document every single moment of this record.

"Shhh!" Y/n hissed.

"Yeah, shut it you all, we can't hear," Senku said curtly.

"But I am the astronaut... Ishigami Byakuya. Haha, what am I saying? Being so stiff sucks, so let's drop the formalities, 'kay? Senku, you're the one who was freed from the petrification, and are listening to this record now. You're there, aren't you? I know you are.

"From across centuries, millennia, or even longer than that... this the final phone call from me to you. Even if I can't hear you, but whatever."

Y/n felt herself grow sad with nostalgia. She didn't even know him, but that fact upset her. She couldn't imagine how Senku must've been feeling.

"Senku, don't you ever forget. I will always... always... Just kidding! That sentimental stuff is so not your style, so let's get to business."

"Hehehe, he gets me."

"Senku, you're so cold to your dad!" Y/n cried, who was... quite literally crying. She didn't handle sentimental/nostalgic things well. Kohaku gave her a little pat on the shoulder, trying to comfort her.

"Senku... if, perhaps, you're still struggling to win the hearts and minds of your comrades in the village, just let them hear this. To those for whom the light has been sniffed out, we present..."

A beautiful, angelic voice came from the record player, who Y/n immediately recognized as Lilian Weinberg, one of her favorite artists. She couldn't help herself. She started to quietly sob, earning an odd look from Senku.

"You've almost died multiple times, and this is what makes you cry?"

"S-Shut up! Ginrou's crying too!"

"This song is so... amazingly amazing!" He shrieked. "It's so beautiful!"

"...You're both idiots."

After the day ended, the record finished playing, and night had fallen, Y/n sat up in the observatory with Senku, who was fine-tuning his telescope. Y/n replayed the song over and over again, listening to Lilian's sweet voice. This was all of her that was left.

She occasionally glanced up at Senku, smiled to herself, then continued writing. She wasn't sure if he noticed or not, but she didn't care too much at the moment. Y/n heard a knock on the observatory. Senku, who was clearly tired and didn't want to be bothered, spoke up.

"Just come in if you want to already. What do you want?"

"Long day, huh~?" Gen said, poking his head through the doorway before stepping in. He gave a friendly little wave to Y/n. "Evening, Y/n darling~"

Gen walked over and covered one end of the telescope, forcing Senku's attention on him. "Well, I didn't really want our pure and uptight gang to hear this, you see."

"Kukuku, it didn't seem like a good time to bring it up."

"You read the mood~"

"Okay, wait, what the hell are you two talking about?" Y/n asked, her nostalgic demeanor getting quickly replaced with an impatient, curious one.
