chapter two

John's Pov:
after school i ran home to change. i didn't want to make it seem too obvious that i changed so i just threw a hoodie on over my turtle t-shirt and light brown khakis.

i went downstairs and grabbed $10.00. i got on the bus and headed to the local cafe where Peggy agreed to meet me.

so far, i really liked this Peggy girl. she's really funny, super smart, and not mention, incredibly gorgeous.

when i got to the cafe, i quickly spotted Peggy. i was surprised to see her with two other people, a boy and a girl.

they looked about the same age as Peggy, the girl looking quite a bit like her. maybe she just ran into her friends.

i walked into the cafe, right to where Peggy was.

"Hey John!" Peggy said. "Hi Peggy. who are your friends here? it's no big deal i'm just wondering, i've never met them before." i replied "Oh, this is my sister Eliza, i call her Betsey, and this is her boyfriend, Alexander, everyone calls him Alex though." "Okay, that's cool. Hi Eliza, hi Alex, i'm John."

"I know," Eliza told me "Peggy told me all about your 'date'". Peggy's face went dark pink. she must be super embarrassed.

Peggy's Pov:
i can't believe Eliza just said that! to John! i mean, yeah sure i liked John so far, but he didn't say this was a date. and i only asked Betsey to come in case of an 'emergency' but i didn't want her to embarrass me.

"John, do you wanna go with me to get a cookie or something?" i asked John. maybe that would make things a little less awkward. "Sure."

from what i know so far, John was amazing. he hated history as much as me, loved drama and acting as much as me, and made fun of english as much as me.

i really hoped we could go on an official date some time. i could tell he gets nervous around me because absolutely no one says 'what's crackin' and he even looked so embarrassed after he said it.

"So John, what do you wanna get, i'll buy." i asked him. "Oh it's okay Peggy, i can buy my own cookie." "No really John, i'll buy! i'm okay with it, my father's kinda rich soo..." "Well, you seem very persuasive so i'll just let you buy me a cookie then."

i bought John a cookie and a chocolate milk, and myself a muffin and iced coffee. i love iced coffee. if i had to choose only one thing to drink for the rest of my life, i would definitely choose iced coffee, without thinking twice about it.

John's Pov:
i noticed how fast Peggy drank her iced coffee. "Peggy, slow down with your drink" i said. she just laughed "It's fine, they don't make me hyper or anything, i drink them 24/7, it's all good." "Well, do you want me to go get you another one?" "Sure, i'll come with you, and maybe even let you buy it for me."

—time skip from my burrito blanket—

Peggy and i worked on our sheets and finished very quickly. we stayed at the cafe for an additional hour before Peggy said she had to get dinner.

Alex and Eliza ended up leaving a few minutes after i arrived, leaving just me and Peggy.

i couldn't sleep that night, all i could think about was the beautiful girl i had met that day.

Peggy's Pov:
the next day at school, i didn't even stop at my locker, i went straight to my first period class, college level math.

i had mixed feeling about math class. i was good at math, very good at it, and i liked my teacher, Ms. Norbery, she was always nice to me. but i hated the kids in that class. maybe class would be better if John was in it. well, at least i had all my other classes with him.

finally, my last class rolled around, drama. oh how i loved drama. and the most exciting part, auditions for the summer musical were right after class. i really hoped that John liked acting, maybe we would both audition and get good roles.

when the final bell rang, i went up to John and asked him if he was going to audition for the musical.

"Of course i'm auditioning for the musical! it's my favourite one" he said "Oh my gosh John, what if we get the main roles! that would be so cool!" "Maybe we will, that would give us lots of extra time to hang out."

after auditions, i asked John for his phone number, so that we can text and facetime. maybe we could get to know each other, even when we can't be together.

—time skip from my orbeez lamp—

John's Pov:
it had been a week since the auditions for 'Miranda'. Peggy tried for the role of Philippa Soo, while i tried for the role of Lin Manuel Miranda.

Peggy and i had hung out every day after school, and in our classes we had together, we talked and made jokes the whole time. after being around her so much, i realized i really liked her, i had a crush on her.

i had a plan to ask her out after the cast gets put up, so that if we get the roles we wanted, we can celebrate, and if we didn't get the roles or even get casted, i could try to make her feel better.

okay, moment of truth, the cast is about to be put up on the board. I took Peggy's hand and squeezed it, nervousness running through both of our bodies.

Peggy's Pov:
YAY!! i got the role of Philippa Soo!! and John got the role of Lin Manuel Miranda. this was great. after hanging around John so much, i had developed quite a bit of a crush on him. and great news, Philippa and Lin kiss several times in this musical! that means John and i will end up having to kiss! ahh i was so overjoyed.

my thoughts were interrupted by John "YAY! we did it Peggy! we got the roles we wanted! as a celebration, would you like to go out with me, like a date?" OH MY GOSH JOHN JUST ASKED ME OUT ON A DATE!!!! does he feel the same way about me as i do about him? maybe, i hope so!
