I feel I should add that while I may have skipped over explicitly mentioning important physical features of my characters (not on purpose, I will go back and edit later) my characters are meant to be the skin colors/general features shown throughout the images in this chapter. It plays into the politics of the world so that and the way they present themselves (tattoos, clothing) all influence the way they are viewed.
In a time where representation is becoming an increasingly important topic of conversation, I wanted to remind my audience that my book tries to encompass many identities in order to represent a large and intersectional group. This book draws on my own experience as a political scientist to build my world and thus it is heavily influenced by our own. Our world is influenced by a wide array of different people with a myriad of backgrounds and my characters are meant to reflect that.
