"A book lying idle on a shelf is wasted ammunition."
Henry Miller

"Mei! Stop writing whatever on your phone and socialize! I didn't agree to take the night train later, just to watch you write."

"No, please! I'm getting such good content!" Mei whined as she desperately gripped onto her phone, wincing when her fingers gave way and it ended up in Jun's hands.

"Then get more content by dancing with me! Flirt with boys when I leave for the toilet! Make out with a girl and regret it tomorrow!" Jun cheered, doing a silly dance as she took both of Mei's hands into her own and forced her off of the couch she made her home.

"Mei!" A few of the others that had been dancing cheered and applauded when she finally joined them on the dance floor.

I got more content from watching that one guy push that girl against a wall and make out with her than this... like I actually want to participate.

"Hey, everyone!" She answered with a smile, hugging a few of the girls she recognized from her old classes.

Jun reappeared next to her, pulling her in for a sideways hug before leading her toward a group of boys standing at the corner of the room, very obviously not interested in dancing. "Look at you, Ms. Popular."

"Yes, yes. My fans adore me. They could have come to the couch to talk to me." Mei crouched down to speak into her friend's ear. "Oh, look. Some lucky person already took my seat."

"You're not going back there." Jun patted her back roughly, stopping and smiling when the two girls finally came face to face with the mysterious boys who refused to dance. "I brought my friend over!"

"That's me. I'm the unfortunate friend who had to get off the couch to meet you three, apparently."

"Mei, shh!" Jun attempted to cover her friend's mouth, but the three boys in front of them laughed at her words.

"I promise it's more fun over here. Let me get you something to drink." One of the boys spoke up, revealing a tongue ring that flashed in the dim light.

"I get my own drinks." Mei spoke plainly, looking up to the boy with a smile glued to her face.

"Smart. I'll come with," he laughed slightly, cockily running a hand through his dark hair, which made Mei roll her eyes.

"Sounds good," she agreed anyway, giving Jun a bored expression before walking away and letting the boy follow her.

"You better not be lying about being fun. My friend took my phone."

"Is that a smart thing to reveal to a stranger at a party? That you refused to take a drink from, may I add?" He joked, and Mei gave a sarcastic laugh in response.

"I don't need my phone to protect me. I can fight."

Who am I kidding. I can't fight.

"I promise you won't need to fight me. I'm not gonna do anything." He smiled down at her.

"You make lots of promises."

"And I keep them." He shrugged, making way and leading her to the kitchen, where he stopped in front of the fridge and looked to her excitedly. "So, what will it be?"
