The Warrior(Alec Lightwood)

Dinner

Katherine wore her leather jacket and tied her hair in a tight ponytail before her phone beeped with a message and she looked at it to see a message from Alec saying to meet him and Izzy in the armory.

The first thing she noticed after Alec with a smile pecked her lips was the fact that both the Lightwood siblings had a tensed expression on their faces ''What happened to you two?'' she asked them and Izzy opened her mouth to speak but Magnus entered the armory and noticed the three.

''There you are!'' he smiled as he walked further in ''Good news, the Core is off the ley line grid and free of demonic corruption.'' 

''That's good news, thank you.'' Alec said and Magnus looked at Katherine who shrugged as silence once again encompassed them ''Alrighty then..I'll make myself scare.'' he turned to move when Izzy spoke with a sigh ''We just got a fire message from mom saying she's 'dropping by' for an impromptu 'family dinner' ''.

Katherine frowned in worry at the usage of a lot of air quotes ''Those are hell of air quotes.'' Magnus snorted and Alec chuckled before his face again became serious ''Mom doesn't just drop by for anything.'' ''Yeah.'' Izzy agreed ''We're thinking it has to do with her and Dad.''

''Oh.'' Katherine's eyebrows raised in realization ''It's official, isn't it? The divorce?'' Alec sighed and she placed her hand in his and he gripped it, she was the only thing after all, that gave him hope . ''My condolences.''  Magnus said in a low voice.

''It's for the best.'' Izzy said ''Problem is, that instead of just being sad like a normal person, she starts trying to fix everyone around her.''   ''Which usually includes her grilling all four of us  on everything she thinks is going wrong in our lives.'' Katherine nudged Alec for emphasis but he caught her arm and kissed her hand.

Magnus nodded in understanding ''So..where are you holding this suspenseful dinner?'' he asked. ''Definitely not here.'' Izzy said ''The Institute tends to bring out her inner inquisitor.'' Alec added with emphasis on the last word making Katherine snort ''You're right about that.''

''How about my place?'' Magnus offered, looking between the three and Alec shared a look with Katherine before both of them looked at Izzy. ''Magnus, you don't have to-''

''I insist.You can have the place all to yourselves.'' ''That's a good idea.'' the Herondale nodded in agreement before an idea popped in her mind ''You should be there as well.'' her father figure chuckled ''Nu-uh, nopey nope, I offer my place, Kate. The rest I'll leave to you all.''

''No, I agree with Kate.'' Izzy said with a smile and leaned forward on her desk, the older girl gave the younger one a wink ''See?If my dad's there being his usual charming self...'' Magnus  nodded in agreement ''I am her dad and I am charming as well.''

''Maryse won't have the time to interrogate you two.'' Katherine smiled up at Alec who looked at her with a playful gleam ''Us two? You aren't escaping out of this, dear fiancee of mine.'' the smile fell from her face ''Uh-oh.Is it too late to back out of the engagement?'' she joked. 

Alec pretended to be in thought before he pulled her closer by her waist ''Yep.'' he kissed the tip of Katherine's nose and she closed her eyes at the warmth  ''You are stuck with me.''

 After Katherine had changed into a dress and Magnus had portaled himself, her and Alec to his loft, the first thing that the Lightwood had done was to rush into the warlock's kitchen and started preparing for the  soup that he had planned to make for Maryse.

''Okay...what is your fiancee doing to my kitchen?'' Magnus paced back and fourth in worry as they heard another loud noise coming from the kitchen ''I don't know.'' Katherine got up from the couch and bit her lip in thought ''Let's go and see shall we?''
