(Jake's POV)
You'd think that if we live in a huge castle, I wouldn't have to room with my brother. So much space, why not use it? Peyton gets her own room, why not us? I suppose that mom just simply couldn't separate her twin boys for a second because we were destined to always be right beside each other or something. Like she wanted us to turn out to be the same exact person. Well, if that was the plan, then it didn't work.
You see, Max and I are close and all, but we have more differences than similarities. Max, while looking like our father, is much more into music, and simple outdoor things, like our mother. I got the more rebellious genes, and my looks, from my mother, and the hardworking determination from my father. I like sporty things, rather than playing the piano all day. Mom says that I remind her of her friend Aspen Leger, who I have to admit, sounds like a pretty cool dude. And of course, Max got the skills in getting girls, because he somehow got Clara to fall in love with him. Not that I'm too jealous, I would much rather meet a girl through something exciting like the selection, rather than knowing her since birth. She's the only non-sister girl that has been around, and don't get me wrong, she's beautiful, but just a friend for me.
I belly flopped onto my bed once we reached our room. Max walked into the room slowly, either entranced by Clara, or the fact that tomorrow is when we have to meet completely new girls to start dating, when he has a beautiful girlfriend already. He fell flat down onto the bed, hitting his head over and over on the pillow.
"Dude, you ok?" I asked, puzzled by the way he was handling this. Max usually knew what to do in these situations, he was the smart one. He was the one who actually payed attention to the lessons during homeschooling. Castleschooling.
"No, I'm not ok. I have to tell mom and dad somehow that I'm dating Clara. I can't go into the selection, hanging out with a bunch of girls, when I'm with her!" Yep. He was frustrated.
"Don't tell them. It's too late. Besides, you can just leave all the new girls to me! Pretend to be seeing them, but secretly still only have eyes for Clara." I thought that this was a stroke of pure genius, but he sighed deeply.
"What if... What if I start liking some of them? I haven't been around many girls..."
"Then you deal with that problem then, not now! C'mon, let's go to bed. We hafta look our best for the ladies tomorrow." I winked, and he gave a half-hearted smile back at me. Tomorrow was going to be an interesting day.
