"i still remember..."

it was a few years later and the party was now 18 years old.

the hopper's and byers's had decided to move back to hawkins.

joyce and hopper had gotten married.

mike and will had ended up staying together and el and max had ended up staying together. dustin was with a girl named suzie he met at summer camp and lucas was with cynthia from math class.

it was summer and they were all going off to college at the end of august.

will and mike were together having their own beach day.

"i wish we got into the same college." will frowned.

"hey, don't worry about it, we're going to call each other every single day like we used to and we'll see each other as much as we can." mike promised.

"you're right. and we're super close too, i'll be in boston and you'll be in new york." will added.

"exactly. we've still got 8 weeks until then anyways. that's perfect for us to have our alone time." mike continued.

"you're right." will sighed.

"i'm always right." mike stated.

"that's not true whatsoever." will shook his head.

"you know what is true?" mike said.

"what's true?" will asked.

"that you're cute." mike smirked.

"you're cuter." will smirked back.

"not true." mike laughed.

"oh really?" will raised his eyebrows.

"yes, really." mike replied.

will squinted at his boyfriend, then pressed his lips onto mike's, but forgot they were in public,
so when they broke the kiss they were getting weird stares from people around them.

"shit, we did it again didn't we." mike muttered.

"yup." will frowned.

before people could make any comments the boys grabbed their things, and went into mike's car.

"i hate that we always have to hide." mike rolled his eyes.

"me too, but if that's what it takes to be with you, wheeler, than it is what it is." will whispered.

"always?"

"always."

they put their foreheads together and laced their fingers together.

"i still remember when we were just dumb kids and we could only see each other on holidays or vacations." mike remembered.

"me too, but i also remember that the best part was the sheer excitement i felt when i saw you." will replied.

"yeah. when i would come running to the door and would hold you him my arms or you would come running to my door and i would, again, get to hold you in my arms." mike agreed.

"i miss missing you." will sighed.

"that sounds funny." mike chuckled.

"true. i love you." will said.

"i love you, too." mike said.

"no matter where our lives take us i'll always be there for you."

"i will always be there for you too, my love."

after sharing a kiss, mike started the car and started to drive.

"where should we go?" mike asked.

"let's just drive for now. i don't need a destination, all i need is you." will answered.

mike nodded and and stepped on the gas.

the two boys drove off into the distance, not looking back, but looking forward. and not just looking forward in the car, no, but looking forward to what will come next for them.
