“So…” Jay started “Let me get this straight, you guys just broke apart…Just like that?”

“Yeah, I guess” I shrugged.

He placed both hands on his face and sighed “God. You guys are impossible.”

“Look who’s talking.” Derek snorted and Jay looked up to glare at him.

We were upstairs in the house where people aren’t allowed to go; but since I knew the owner of the house well, we were allowed to go hang out at one of the guestrooms and talk.

“Could you guys just please get back to the way things were?” He pleaded.

“I don’t think it’ll be that easy.” I said feeling unsure while drying my hair and straightening out the clothes that Dean’s sister lent me. Dean was the eldest son of the Sanchez’s (Owners of the house).

“You were the one who stopped all connections Kayce. So it’s really up to you.” Tyler said staring at the floor with his arms crossed on top of his chest.

“I know.” I sighed lightly “And I’m sorry. I was just confused and I thought we would be better off that way.”

“It’s clearly not.” Greg commented.  Derek gave him a warning look and Greg rolled his eyes.

“Yeah. I get that and I really am sorry.” I said while glancing at all of them “Can you guys ever forgive me and take me back?” I asked while smiling sadly.

All the guys grinned at each other and tackled me in a hug while cheering a bunch of “Hell yeah’s.”

They released me from the hug and I gave them all a thankful smile. “You guys are the best.”

“Of course we are.” Aaron chirped “and if we’re done here-.” He said slowly reaching for the doorknob before yanking it open “-Let’s all get our lazy asses down stairs and PARTAYYY!” He shouted.

“OH YEAHHH” Greg shouted in agreement following Aaron.

“God. FINALLY!” Tyler shot up from the couch and made his way downstairs.

The rest of us followed. But before I could exit the room, someone grabbed my wrist and spun me back to the room before closing the door.

“Can we talk?” He asked and I spun around to face whoever the person was.

Derek.

“Sure.” I said emotionless.

“Are you sure things are cool with us?”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“I mean, are you really sure you want it to go back to the way it was? You do know that Jay still has feelings for you, he’s just a genius at hiding them.” He told me.

I frowned and averted my gaze to the floor. “I know that Derek. But so what? I really missed you guys and if I can act the same, I bet you guys can too. Right?” I asked looking up to see his expression.

He grinned “Right. So we cool?” He asked.

“Definitely.” I replied grinning.

Derek held my hand and started pulling me downstairs. We had to get through a bunch of people and it seriously felt too claustrophobic for my liking.

Finally, after being squeezed by a bunch of strangers from the crowd, Derek led me to the dance floor, where less people were. Thank God, I thought.

“So, shall we have a do-over from our last dance? I really think I should make up for screwing things up that night.”

Instead of responding, I gave him a smile and started moving along with the music. He followed my lead and soon we were both lost with the beat of the music.

How did things turn from bad to good in just one day?

Answer: I have no idea.
