Courtney pulled the curtains open and the smell of the morning fresh breeze brushed lightly through her as her long silky black hair waved along. The morning sun gazed down at her with it warm smile as the birds flapped their wings and chirped happily in the air.
She closed her eyes with a smile and sniffed the glorious fill of nature. "This is great after a nice bath. Today might be a good day"
Scratch that!
"Courtney! Move up your lazy ass and get down here!" She heard Mrs Greg yell out to her.
She groaned and yelled back"I'm coming!". She went out of her room which was the first on the corridor and down the stairs to meet an angry looking Mrs Greg.
Courtney made an obviously - fake smile and said sweetly. "Good morning"
"You think this is a good morning? You're late for breakfast" she scolded.
"Breakfast starts 8 O'clock. This is just 7:50 so I believe I'm ten minutes early"
"Don't you go telling me about the time. If I say you're late you're late.
"But some of the others are still back in their rooms"
"This applies to only you cause I have my eyes out on you. You're the only kid in this orphanage that makes me want to pull out my hair"
"What an honour" she Joked around.
"You're laughing now aren't you? I'll like to see how long you can keep that up. For as long as you're here with me I'm going to make your life a living hell just as you made mine" Mrs Greg said softly but her words filled with despise.
She looked back over the stairs and talked in the sweet gentle voice she used in talking to the other kids. "Kids, breakfast's ready"
Courtney stood still as she watched Mrs Greg head over to the dinning room. she had always wondered why Mrs Greg was so harsh towards her. At the very least her memory didn't tell her of any moment when she killed her husband.
She could now hear the kids running down the stairs behind her.
"Race you!"
"You're going down!"
She started to head to the dinning room when she was hit. She looked to see the boys who had hit her but none of them turned to utter a word of apology.
As the boys were almost out of sight she sighed and said a bit louder, sarcastically "I'm okay. it didn't hurt"
Mrs Greg wasn't her only hater in the house. For some reason unknown to her the kids also distance themselves from her.
She walked into the dinning hall and took her seat among the four other kids on a round table taking them all. She sat quietly as the other kids filled the room with noise.
"Alright kids, that's enough. No noise at the table remember". She said as she came out of the kitchen.
"Sorry mom" they all chorused except Courtney then the room went silent.
Mrs Greg looked around and then asked "where's Jayson".
"Probably out through his window to see his lovely Kasey" Dylan, a ten year old said with a tease.
"Yeah. Kasey Kasey, my Kasey" Raven another ten year old said in a mimicking tone. Then they all laughed as they joked around.
"Alright now that's enough" Mrs Greg said as they all went quiet again. She looked at Courtney and said "Courtney go get Jayson down for breakfast".
