#35 - The audition

Jennie's POV

There are two things I know for sure.

One: Lisa has feelings for me. If she doesn't, then she would never do such things. For sure.

Two: I'm falling for her. Deep. Hard. Unstoppable. Insatiable. I can't stop myself even though I know there might be no one there to catch me if I fall.

The autumn wind is blowing as I feel chills run down my spine. I miss her warmth and her softness already.

I walk to JK's car, my mind is running through a thousand excuses for the peck Lisa just gave me earlier. What was on her mind when she did that? Was that necessary? No. Absolutely not. And now I'm here to clean the mess.

- What?

I huff bluntly as I enter JK's car, taking the shotgun while he is staring at me with unbelievable shocking eyes. His swallow is audible as I fix the seat belt on my own.

- What are you doing here? And with Lisa? - He finally manages to speak up.

- It is nothing, JK. Just drive, or we are gonna be late.

- But you just... she just... you two were...-

He trails off abruptly, hand hanging the air, eyes blinking hard then he shakes his head in disbelief.

- Would you mind if I warm up my vocal cords during the drive? - I change the topic almost immediately as if I didn't hear his stuttering.

JK knows me too well, he doesn't answer me as he clenches his teeth, his hand turns the key to ignite the car, after a moment,the roaming sound of the machine fills up the silence hanging around us. Houses and trees are left behind as the car starts moving. My eyes immediately shift to the house I just left, and my heartbeat races inside my chest as I meet a pair of big brown eyes staring at me behind a grand glass window. Why do I feel like I get caught from cheating, with both JK and Lisa? This is ridiculous, but I can't help the feeling. I keep my eyes on Lisa and give her a small smile before the car turns to the main street, but she doesn't smile back.

The car is now running on the main street of Gangnam-gu as JK breaks the silence between us.

- I'm fine with it.

It takes me a while to get that he is answering to my question earlier. With a silent exhalation, I force myself to get the thoughts about Lisa off my mind and then I start humming a tune under my breath softly, warming up my vocal cords. I know the tune by heart, but I want to make sure I won't mess it up because of my nerves.

- You know, - JK speaks up in her low voice - I choose "Love shot" by EXO and "Fake Love" by BTS for the audition.

I stop from humming, blinking a little to get what he means, then I turn my head, my widen eyes meet his gaze. I ask hoarsely.

- You? You too?

- Yeah. I sign up for the audition too. I hope that we could both make it, Jennie, we will be in the same company.

JK is well-known for his gifted dancing skills, but he has a great voice as well. I know it, but I never expect that he will join the audition with me, also, never in my dream will I think of debuting in the same company with him.

But it doesn't mean I'm not happy hearing that. It somehow touches me that I will not be all alone for this. But at the same time, I feel it is getting weird between us. At least, it feels awkward in my side knowing my four-year suiter is going to join the same audition with me and if both of us make it, he will spend years with me after.
