Steve walks out of the cafeteria, looking left, not seeing Bucky. He looks right and sees a long haired brunette with ear buds in his ears. Steve walks up to him.
Bucky sensed that someone was walking towards him, and he glances at Steve before looking down at his phone again, "What do you want?"
"I just.. we're sorry, Bucky," Steve says, "We didn't mean to make you feel bad."
Bucky shrugs, "I don't feel bad," He says too quickly. He did, a little bit. But they didn't need to know that.
"Yes you do, Bucky. You're just hiding it," Steve frowned.
Bucky scoffs, his brows raising, "I-I'm not hiding anything, Steve."
"Um, yeah you are, Bucky," The blond insisted.
"No I'm not." Bucky says in a more serious tone.
"Bucky, it's okay, I know you are."
"Ugh, I'm not hiding shit Steve!" Bucky takes his earbuds out and turns to him.
"Oh my God, yes you are!"
"What, so, you don't believe me? You think I'm a liar or something?"
"Bucky, please, no. I just think that.. that.." Steve sighs, "I just know when you're hiding something."
"That means you think I'm lying."
"Because you are, Bucky. Yeah, you're lying to me, are you happy now?"
"So you don't trust me now, huh? Okay, that's completely fine.." Bucky averts his eyes away.
"No, Bucky. It's not like that, not at all. You're just.. hurt.."
Bucky snickers, "What? Hurt? Haha! I'm not hurt, what the hell is there to be hurt about? I'm fine!"
Steve didn't see anything funny, "You're acting so weird, Bucky."
"No I'm not! I'm being myself, this is myself, and I'm not hurt. I'm completely fine, I'm.. I'm happy," Bucky's smile fades away. He's lying to himself and to his friends. He hated himself for that. Why couldn't he just tell them the truth? Oh right, because they'd continue to judge him and eventually stop being his friend. Then Bucky will have nowhere to turn to, everyone would hate him and it'd be his own fault.
Steve looks closely at his facial expression and it looks like he's about to start crying, "Oh Bucky, please don't cry."
Bucky sucks up the tears and shakes his head, "What? I'm not crying. I'm totally fine, buddy. I swear.."
Steve squints, "Something smells fishy and I'm gonna find out what it is.."
"Tell the girls to close their legs then," Bucky chuckles. Steve would've laughed as well if he wasn't mad and frustrated at his friend right now. The bell rings and Bucky puts his earbuds back in, "Anyway, I'll see you in science last period." He leaves.
Steve let's him walk away, frowning as he did. He knows Bucky is hiding some things about his boyfriend, and he was going to find out what it was.
"Is Bucky still coming?" Nat stops by Steve to ask.
"Um.. I don't think he is," He sighs.
"Damn, did anything happen?" She asked.
"Bucky looked like he was about to cry."
"Really?" Nat raised her brows, "I've never seen Bucky cry before."
"I have. It's kind of rare, though," Steve said.
"Steve," He hears a female, British accent call over to him.
The blond knows exactly who it is, turning around and blushing when he saw her, "P-Peggy, you know my name.."
