Chapter 4: The Train

I woke up the next morning in Draco's arms. We had talked all night. About everything. Muggle music, memories, and our favorite colors. His is green ad mine is silver.

I heard a door slam somewhere in the house. I wonder what his parents would do if they found us together like this.

"Draco wake up." I said, gently shaking his shoulder. "Draco you have to go to your bed. Your parents can't see us like this"

"ugph... I don't care. Five more minutes please." He buried his head into my neck. His breath gave me the chills.

" No get up now! Its getting late. We have to get ready or we could miss the train." With that said I untangled myself from his arms and climbed out of bed.

"Noh. Come back" he said reaching towards me...

"Draco sweet heart its time to get up. We need to leave soon to get to Kings Cross. "

At the sound of his mothers voice Draco was up out of bed and alert. He waited until she walked down the hall and snuck out the door and into his room.

(Later, at Kings Cross)

I said my goodbyes to Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy  and left to give Draco some time to say goodbye to his parents privately. I boarded the train and found an empty compartment. I settled in and started listening to my ipod. I love Muggle music, especially Evanescence. I am in the mood for Sweet sacrifice.

Just as I started the song, there was a knock at the compartment door and three people walked in. There was a girl with wavy brown hair, a lanky skinny guy with flaming red hair and another boy with black brown hair and glasses.

The red head's eyes immediately widened when he saw my face. Of course he would recognize me, the prophet featured pictures and stories often.

"Elena Merlin. Blimey." He just continued to stare, not saying anything else

"Well you know who I am. But who are you?"

The girl stepped forward, "Please excuse my git of a friend. My name is Hermione, this is Ron and this is Harry."

The girl, Hermione motioned to the kid with glasses. So, this was Harry Potter, the other child who lived. I wonder if he even knows who I am, being raised by muggles and all.

He stepped forward, finally brave enough to speak. "So you are Elena. I suppose we have a lot in common..."

No shit sherlock. I hope he is only coming off as a git because he is nervous.  "Yes, I suppose we do."

I wonder where Draco is. The train is leaving the station and he has yet to find me.

Hermione broke the awkward silence"Anyway. Do you mind if we join you? All the other cabins are full."

I am beginning to like this girl. She is very forward. Almost fearless. " Sure, go for it."

As time went on things became less awkward. We all talked about our summers, they asked me some questions about my schooling at Durmstrang and my travels. Ron was actually funny and sweet once he got over being nervous. Harry however was strangely quiet and stared at me, making me very uncomfortable. Maybe he just feels weird towards me because of our similar situations. I imagine that he might need some more time to warm up to me.

We finally arrived at Hogwarts and I had no idea where Draco was. I actually felt hurt. He had been so attentive before, it seemed out of character for him to leave my side for so long. I wasn't too concerned though. These three seemed eager to guide me to the great hall, they were blabbering on about how I will probably end up in Griffindor with them.

As we entered the hall, I was very happy to see Draco already seated. I waved to him but he must not have noticed. He sat with Pansy, Blaise, Crabbe and Goyle at what I would guess is the Slytherin table.

Uncle Albus noticed me enter the great hall and immediately came to greet me.

"Lena, so wonderful to finally see you. I am sorry I couldn't see you sooner but I was.. ah.. unavoidable detained. We have much to catch up on, but alas, I have my duties. Come with me and we will see about having you sorted."

I followed him to the front of the great hall, and sat on a stool. Everyone's eyes were on me. For the first time in this ordeal, I actually became nervous.  Which house do I belong in? Draco and most of my friends are in Slytherin, but my parents were both in Gryffindor. I have always had great marks in school, so I have the intellect to be in Ravenclaw. And as for Hufflepuff... well, I don't think it will come to that. (No offense to the house, I just don't think I would fit there).

My uncle placed the sorting hat on my head.

"What a dilemma we have here. Yes you would most certainly fit in any of the houses. You have the cunning of Salazar Slytherin, the bravery of Godric Gryffindor, the intellect of Rowena Ravenclaw and the kind heart of Helga Hufflepuff. Hmmmm.

Ah. I see that your desire is torn between the friendship of Slytherin and that of Grffyndor.

You must know that you would do well in Slytherin. With your power. However I do not sense much ambition for more power. You're humble.

My dear I cannot decide this for you. Your heart desires both houses equally. There is only one solution....

SLYTHERIN AND GRYFFINDOR"

Everyone gasped.

Even Uncle Albus looked shocked. He took the hat and placed it on his head. It seemed as though he was conferring with it.

"For the first time in Hogwarts history, the sorting hat was unable to choose for a student. There will have to be a compromise. The hat has expressed that you should be in either Slytherin or Gryffindor. The only way to settle this is to have you be apart of each house and then choose. You will spend one month as a part of each house, and then you will decide where you think you belong. Which house would you like to try first Lena?"

I was speechless. The sorting hat didn't choose? I have to choose? I really don't know which house I should be in first. I suppose I will have to flip a coin.

All of the sudden I noticed Harry next to me. He leaned over and whispered in my ear "Lena, save the best for last. You should try Slytherin first"

Wonderful, I have no problem with letting him decide for me. "Slytherin. I'd like to be in Slytherin first."

I am starting to lose my muse if you can't tell. This is my last post of the day, hope its not too disappointing. I will regroup and serve some more up tomorrow. Any comments or suggestions/ideas are greatly appreciated.
