"Are you paying attention to anything I'm saying?" Tess complained. I frowned. She hasn't said anything about to today. It was March 10, a week from Harry and my first date and my birthday. Today I was 18. This was such an important day and apparently she forgot.

"Are you okay?"

"What? Oh yeah, of course." I mumbled. I didn't tell Harry about today because I knew he would make a fuss about it, but I at least wanted Tess to say Happy Birthday or something.

"So let's go then!" She grabbed my hand and dragged me out of my room. She had planned for us to go shopping today. She dragged me through the living room where Harry and Niall were sitting on the couch.

"Yeah love?" He looked up at me from the TV.

"Why are you here?" I wondered.

"Yeah, why are you here?" Tess echoed.

"Oh, Louis and Liam are using our TV to play video games." Niall explained.

"Okay... Well, Tess and I are going out."

Harry got up and came to me while Tess went over to Niall. "Have fun." He grinned and pecked me on the nose. "Bye."

I hugged him. "Bye."

"Okay, come on! Let's go!" Tess grabbed my wrist and pulled me out the door. Once we got down to the lobby she spun on her heel and faced me, throwing her arms out.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" She cried.

I stared at her incredulously. "you remembered?!"

She rolled her eyes. "Of course I remembered. I'm your best friend! And you're turning 18!" She pulled me into a tight hug and squeezed.

"Okay, let the birthday girl breath." I struggled to loosen her grasp.

"Right. Sorry."

"So why didn't you say anything earlier? I thought you forgot."

"Your reaxction was funny. You looked so depressed and--"

My eyes widened as I heard someone scream. I looked to the sound and saw Brittany waving widely at me. I shared a shocked look with Tess and hurried over to her.

"What are you doing?" I hissed.

"Wishing you a happy birthday! You're finally 18!"

"You didn't have to scream! The boys on the 40th floor probably heard you!"

"Why would that be so bad?" Brittany wondered.

"They don't know it's her birthday. She never likes making a big deal out it." Tess answered.

"Oh yeah, you never did, not even when you were little. How come?" Brittany questioned.

"I don't like people spending money on me and going out of their way to do something. I don't like being a hassle." I explained while the two just rolled their eyes.

"Harry's going to be pissed when he finds out that your birthday passed without him knowing." Tess warned.

"I thought about that, so I decided I'd tell him at 11:59 tonight so that it's too late for him to do anything, but he won't be able to get mad."

"Oh Lissa. 11:59? Come on." Brittany scoffed.

"I don't really get it. Birthdays should be celebrated. It's fun!" Tess argued. "Remember when you lied to the boys right when you met them? Not telling them is kind of like lying." Tess smirked, knowing how guilty I still felt about that.
