"Is everything alright, dear?" the waitress asks, startling me from my thoughts.
I look at her for a moment, trying to decipher what she just asked me.
"Do you not like the croissant?" she repeats,
pointing at the half-eaten croissant on my plate that I ordered 15 minutes ago.
"Oh no, it's not that," I try to explain,
"it's just that it's not the same eating them without her."
