The week went by and the weekend rolled around. I was hopefully gonna get to see him. It sucked not going to the same school, but still. I needed him more than anything. I couldn't let him go.
No one had tried starting anymore drama, reluctantly. Maybe it would stay that way.
Friday came, I didn't get to see him then. Saturday came and his mother was sick, and on top of that was our weekly bible study.
"Can your step dad bring you over here,"
"I'll ask but I doubt it with your mom being sick."
"Man, I wanna see you so bad. No it's a 'I need to see you'"
"Hopefully you can."
"Why won't your step dad bring you?"
"Because he says he's taking care of my mom." I had to see him, its been a week and it's driving me crazy. Why can't I see him?
"Ughh, I guess I need to get off here because my grandparents are here now for bible study."
"Dangg. Alright baby, I love you and I'll text you."
"I love you."
I watched out the window as my grandparents walked up and my phone vibrated.
Jonathan: i miss you.
I tried to hold back the tears, I needed to see him.
Me: I miss you too baby./:
Jonathan: :( wrud?
Me: staring out the window, wishing you would just appear, hah.
Jonathan: yeahh, i wish i could to.
I walk into the kitchen where everyone is saying their greetings.
"Where's your boyfriend?" my grandmother asked all cheery.
"He can't come tonight," I said, trying to hold back the tears. Why was she asking me? This just makes me feel worse having to tell everyone.
"His mother's sick." my mom said and looked at me sadly, "I'm sorry babygirl."
I just nodded because I knew I wasn't gonna be able to speak clearly. This was really bothering me because if I didn't see him tonight I wouldn't be able to see him for a whole other week.
"Are you about to cry?" my mother asked concerned.
I nodded a lie. It was obvious but I was trying my best.
"Todd, go get him."
I looked up shocked and all of a sudden the tears stopped.
"I won't be doing this again, his parents have gotta help out some too."
"Yes ma'm." I said it without hesitation, not even worrying about next time, just now. I told Jonathan and then we finally got to his house.
We got there and I got out to let Jonathan in the backseat and I followed in behind him.
"This is a long dive," my step dad said.
"Yeah. i'm sorry about that. My step dad real stubborn." Jonathan answered.
"Oh it's fine. Long as yall see each other I guess that's all that matters." Jonathan looked at me and smiled and grabbed my hand. I loved when he did that, he did it randomly all the time. He did that thing where he rubbed his thumb back and forth on my hand while holding it. I don't know why but I always loved it when he did. It sent sparks through my body.
