Year 2015

Rella's POV

Nancy gave me a short tour of the school. She was feeling too lazy and too hungry to provide a detailed one. Ours was quite a big building and campus to be covered in a matter of minutes. So, Veronica took the challenge of showing me the rest tomorrow.

Afterwards, the five of us gathered in the school cafeteria to fulfill our pre-made promise of eating lunch together.

Nancy seated beside me, yawned royally. I swear I could see the emptiness of her stomach through that wide open mouth.

I ate my sandwich and talked to Veronica. Robert showed us a Youtube video of a female cat humping a Hello Kitty plush toy. Nancy munched her meal and mouthed words none of us understood. It was a fun time.

Keith, seated in front of me across the table, remained a silent listener for the most part.

I developed this terrible urge to talk to him and decided to strike up a conversation. We can talk about the weather for all I care. I just wanted to hear his voice again.

But upon decently diverting my attention into his direction, I witness something that makes me question my entire sanity.

Keith’s glance was already fixated on me. He was already looking at me.

No, more specifically…at my lips?!

Keith Tellier was busy staring at my lips without blinking his goddamn eyes.

EXCUSE ME, UMM…WHAT?

What is going on here? Why is he doing that? I have my questions, mister.

Maybe there is food stuck on my mouth. For a messy eater like me, that’s a plausible reason. Moreover, the big old sandwich I just had was made out of bread dry as a desert. There were tiny bread molecules all over the table. I currently have a snowfall under me. The possibility of some being up here was very high.

The funny thing is I can’t even muster up the courage to touch my lips to check if there actually is anything stuck on them. I can’t even bring myself to lick them right now.

And they are my lips for god’s sake!

It’s like my limbs totally surrendered under the power of Keith’s burning gaze.

There was also this tiny part in me that wanted Keith to keep viewing my lips with his naked eyes. A dirty mind began creating other probabilities.

What if, he plans on planting a kiss on these luscious lips of mine? What if, he is finding my virgin lips sexy? A cute boy appreciating the beauty of them lips is not a very bad feeling.

Not a very bad feeling at all!

I felt my ears and cheeks heat up at these ridiculous thoughts. My body tingled. The virgin butterflies started flying inside an equally virgin tummy. Was I sexually frustrated? Should I watch more porn? I am never gonna get a boyfriend that’s for sure!

“Hey, you have bread crumbs on your mouth.” Keith whisper yells.

Loud!

It was loud enough for the other three to pick up on what he had said. They stopped doing whatever they were doing, darted their curious eyes at me and began searching my lips for aforementioned crumbs.

Not again!

“Here…on the left corner of your lower lip.” Keith points at his own lip with the help of his index finger to show me their exact location.

‘My first prediction actually came true?’ I thought in dismay.

An “Oh…” was all I managed to say to Keith.

This was embarrassing. This was actually embarrassing.

“I was waiting for you to realize it on your own and clean it by yourself but you never did. So I decided to take matters onto my own hands. I hope that’s okay.” Keith finishes off with a smile.

‘This dumb duck has the actual audacity to smile at me right now?!’

I quickly accept the napkin that Keith offers to rub those sly, little particles away.

Then, plastering a fake smile on my flushed face, I mutter a half-hearted “thank you” to Keith. The boy came up with a polite, “you’re welcome” in return. I must salute his nerves.

The others kept their quiet not knowing in what way to contribute towards this conversation/situation. Thank god!

I just hope Nancy will not regret befriending a literal toddler like me. Mr. First Impression, yes, why don’t you go flush yourself down the drain. Goodbye. I’ll miss you. Rest in peace.

‘No like seriously, why on earth would you mention something like that? No one else noticed or cared to notice the food on my face, then why did you? What you did was embarrassing and not helpful at all. Keith Tellier, next time allow me to bring you a loudspeaker so you can announce it to the entire school.’ I scolded Keith inside my head.

It was all in my head, don’t you worry.

Keith Tellier is a weird kid.
