The strangest things give me inspiration to write: a conversation, a song, Pinterest, and sometimes it's just a story I want to read but can't quite find.

40 Weeks was born from hearing a Jungkook cover of Purpose. Dear Diary was from a writing prompt I saw on Pinterest. 3rd year is coming from my interest in other author's books about human/animal hybrids.

No matter where it comes from, let your mind run wild with the idea. But write it all down! All of it. Even if you think it's not all that good, write it down anyway. Ideas that aren't all that good can usually be polished into something better.

But you can't polish something that's not there.

Spend a lot of time brainstorming scenes that could play out in your story. At least a week, maybe even two or longer. I tend to have a huge burst of ideas initially, and then my creativity wanes for a bit. After some time, it comes back again.

Think of settings your story could take place in, and what time periods it could occur in.

Think about bright moments that could happen, and think about dark moments that could happen.

You get what I'm trying to say. Really go wild with it. At this point, there is no such thing as a bad idea.

A special note of encouragement:

Don't ever think that your story idea has been done too many times. Yes, there may be tons of high school stories, or alpha/omega stories, or crime dramas. It doesn't matter.

No one can tell your story quite like you can
