Q: Helena, what comes first for you, the plot or characters?
I think a bit of both. I usually have a vague idea of a character and imagine an obstacle they might face—though the character isn't yet actualised, and there are other characters to follow. Of course, the plot brings the other characters.
Q: How important do you think networking is for a writer?
Wattpad has been invaluable to me. I have learned so much by networking with other writers. The only thing I have noticed is I need to limit how much I do this, or I will have no time to write!
Q: What is your work schedule like when you are writing?
I catch the train to work 3-4 days per week. The train ride home is a treat time I give myself to fast draft a chapter. Then I try to tidy it up on Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
