I want to thank all readers, who read,  liked and/or commented on my story. You guys really inspire my writing and I'm really sorry for the long wait. But (finally) here's the last chapter.

The first thing Sonic saw as he woke up was a blurry white color. After closing and opening his eyes a few times his sight got better and he identified the blurry white as the ceiling of the infirmary room. Confused he started recalling the events before he passed out.

He then shoot up from his lying position, causing his head to throb terribly. He brought his hand up to his forehead as he sat back so he could lean against the back of the bed.

Once his headache went down he looked around and the first thing he saw was the sleeping form of a beautiful pink hedgehog princess. Her head was resting right next to his left hand while her back rised slowly up and down from her breathing.

Sonic watched Amy sleep, it felt like hours but it were just a few minutes before Amy started to wake up. As she looked towards Sonic, to check on him, her eyes widened as she saw him awake, and she immediately hugged him.

Sonic had to pull away from the hug as the air was knocked out of his lungs. "Careful Amy, I just woke up and would like to stay awake for a while." Sonic said smirking.

"Sorry. I'm just so glad you're awake." Amy whined as she went for another hug, but this time much more gentle. "I was so worried. I thought Scourge actually killed you this time."

Sonic looked at Amy with a small smile as he brushed the now falling tears off her cheek. "Don't cry, I promised you I will never leave you and that I'll always protect you no matter what. And as you can see I'm perfectly fine, so stop crying already."

Amy rubbed furiously at her eyes with the sleeve of her dress till her eyes and cheeks were all red but her tears stopped. She was about to say something else as the door opened and in came the royal doctor.

"I see your awake Sonic. Would you leave the room for a few minutes Amy, I need to have a word with your guard." The doctor said and Amy nodded before she stood up and left the room.

Sonic looked after Amy, not wanting her to go but his attention was turned towards the Doctor as he heard him clearing his voice.

"Alright Sonic, how are you felling." The Doctor asked while keeping his eyes on the files in his hands.

"I'm a bit dizzy and my stab wound stings a bit but other than that I feel fine." Sonic answered honestly, not wanting Amy to lecture him about lying again.

"That's good." The Doctor said smiling. "You should take it slow the next two month. No fighting and no fast movement unless you want your wounds to reopen."

"So ... no running?" Sonic asked, hopping that he at least can take a morning run around the kingdoms borders. "No, you're forbidden in doing so. Now then, your welcome to stay in this room but you can rest in your own chambers too if you want."

"Then I'll stay in my own room, can I leave now or is there anything else?" Sonic asked. "No that's all. You can leave whenever you want." The Doctor said and left the infirmary room.

Sonic was about to get up and leave but he stopped as he heard the voice off both the Doctor and his crush. He walked up to the door to hear them better.

"Can I presume that you will take care of him?" He heard the Doc ask before he heard Amy's determined voice. "Don't you worry I will keep him away from overdoing it and I will force him to rest if I have too."

Sonic gulped and was about to head back to his bed so it would look like he never left it but before he even had the chance to turn around he had the door smashed into his face.
