part 17: something different

"I got a new style!" she giggled and sweeps a hand over her pigtails. "Pretty neat, right?" spinel elbows your shoulder, with a wink. "(nickname) did it for me! isn't that just swell?" you feel your face heat up in humbleness as his eyes flick you, his smile somehow brightening. "you just keep getting better and better!" you smiled shyly and looked away blushing. he giggled and clasped his hands together. "okay, guys. I have someone I want you to meet! she's a really cool person, and you'll love her! I know it!" you squint an eye suspiciously while spinel's eyes sparkle brightly, as she grabbed your arm and shook it excitedly. "ya hear that, (name)!? a new friend to play with!!" you chuffed nervously in response. a new friend, huh..? you gulped nervously. what... what is this friend gonna look like..? he stepped back and made a gesture with his arm. "come on!" you felt your stomach jump at the sound of light footsteps coming up the stairs. is it another gem? i-if so.. is it another one in... my state..? ah... I can't handle another-

"W-Whoa..."

...human?

A human girl, to be precise. she had dark skin and long dark curly hair. and, oddly enough, she had... glasses...? on her face. you tipped your head to the side, slightly surprised by the petite little female before you. "(name) and spinel! this is connie! connie! meet (name) and spinel!" you both stared at each other in an awkward silence as you drank in each other's appearances. one tiny and petite, the other large and muscular. spinel however, was quick to break the stare-down. she jumped up and held a hand out, smiling in a friendly manner. "nice to meet ya!" though hesitant, connie reaches up and shakes the pink gem's outstretched hand, letting a small smile creep across her face. "nice to meet you to." her gaze flicks to you for a moment and she suddenly looks weary again. she leans close to Steven, bringing a hand to her mouth and muttering in a volume she thought you couldn't hear.

"Steven... isn't that a... corrupt gem..?"

you flinched at the amount of uncertainty that was in her voice and grimaced faintly. great start...

Steven suddenly looked sheepish, as he rubbed the back of his neck. "well... yes... but no. she's a good gem! honest! watch!" he motions for you to come over, and after a moment of hesitancy, you walk over slowly and sit down before them. connie seems to start to cower as you loomed over her, and you wrinkled your muzzle slightly in distaste. I... shouldn't expect anything less from a regular human... but still... the fact you struck fear in her really stung. but Steven patted your shoulder, as if he were demonstrating your docile nature. "see? she doesn't bite." you nodded in agreement and brought your face down to her height, prompting her to flinch back, bringing her hands upto her chest. you frowned at this but you put on the most friendly smile you can muster. "(name) a good gem. (name) promise!" she stares up at you for a moment, scanning your face for any off-putting features. Steven took the opportunity to bring a hand up and lift your bangs from your eyes, revealing your friendly (color) gaze focused on the small girl. "Ah..!" she utters in slight surprise, but you can tell that she's relaxed a bit. slowly, she extended her hand towards your face, and laid it carefully onto your muzzle. such a warm hand she has... you shut your eyes in content and let a deep purr rumble in your throat.

at this, connie relaxes with a sigh, a gentle smile blooming across her face. she starts to stroking your muzzle delicately, earning not only a louder purr, but for you to lean closer and lick her cheek a small lick of appreciation. she giggles at this and brings her other hand to your cheek. Steven laughs in triumph as you both smile at each other. "see? I knew you two would get along!" connie giggles as you lick her face a bit more, prompting her to press her hands into your chest to ease you. Steven pumped his fists in the air. "We are now all officially best friends now! yeah!" he laughed, and you, in a burst of elation, spread all four of your arms out.

"Best Friends!!"

all at once, you pull everyone into you, into a massive bear hug. of course Steven and connie wheezed at the grip of the hug, but spinel wrapped her hands around your waist humming contently into your chest fluff.

Steven coughed but strained a smile. "y-yeah!"

Yeah, every few chapters, I might add in a little doodle/cutscene(?) To spice things up.

But I warn you, my art isn't as good as it should be in some parts, so expect a lot of redos and whatnot.

And sorry dudes, but that's my interpretation of crystal gem spinel.

I will probably remake her sometime later.
