~Onwards~
The tunnel system seemed to go on forever. Or it did to the others who wouldn’t stop thinking about how long the tunnels were and how tired they were. We had only been traveling for three and a bit friggen hour. It is not that far to be honest and they needed to suck it up and keep their thoughts to themselves because I was on the verge on happily knocking them out and leaving them behind so I didn’t have to hear their stupid complaints.
‘My legs hurt already. Can we just stop for the day?’ I hear Akina complain.
I stop walking and turn around and super speed myself to in front of Akina.
“Please stop with your complaining. I warned you the journey would be long, but we would be halfway shortly.” Akina tried to look at me, but couldn’t make eye contact. I shook my head and walk off down the hall, I mean, tunnel. Ugh. These guys were giving me a headache and my head felt like it was going to explode. They thought their legs were sore. My head is on the verge of exploding. I really needed to learn how to shut my mind up.
And just like that, silence filled my head. I listened around and smiled slightly when I heard no-one’s thoughts except my own.
“Are you serious?! That’s all I had to do! I have been trying for hours. Stupid mind!” I mutter angrily to myself as I continued to attempt to walk slowly down the hallway. I knew I was being somewhat unfair to the others and I should be nicer towards them, but I warned them that it was not going to be easy as pie. It was going to include long hours of walking. But no, no one listens to Mako. Stupid little humans. I chuckled to myself as it was weird calling them humans. But hey, I was no long human, or alive for that matter so I didn’t care.
It was fun being different for once. Though, I missed food. I tried eating and I could barely taste it. It all tasted very plain and similar and I didn’t like it. So, I was trying to find an alternative to what I knew the solution to be. No one else knew this, but it was one of the reasons I was headed towards Heno. I was keeping my eyes peeled for the turn off we needed to move on from the current set of tunnels we were on. Most of these ones were straight and lights flickered all over the place. The tunnels we needed wouldn’t be like that. They would be fully lit and crowded. I would hopefully be able to find something I was looking for and make one of the hardest decisions of my life.
As we continued to walk, we came to a cross road and instead of turning left like we had every other time, I turned right. The others, having no idea where they were, followed quietly, finally listening to what I had to say. They weren’t talking a lot, which was good because I didn’t want them to get into any trouble. Coming closer, I stopped walking and waited for the others to reach me. They looked at me in surprise as I had not waited for them nearly at all.
“What is it Mako? Are you feeling friendly enough to talk to us humans again?” Akina says and I try so hard not to drench her again. I ignored her and turned to the others.
“I have one favour to ask of you. If you want to survive, shut up, walk behind me and keep your eyes in their magyk colour at all times. Otherwise you could become someone’s dinner or worse and I don’t want to have that happened. So, take my advice. If you ignore it, I’ll freeze your lips together until we arrive. Those are your options. “I simply tell them. They look at one another and activate their eyes. One by one, their eyes change and I now looked at nearly every colour of the rainbow. I kept mine red as I saw no point in turning my blue eye on. Shiro walked up beside me and we walked on together.
“What’s up with you Mako? We rarely talk at the moment,” Shiro asks me, and I noticed he was nervous. A pin of guilt entered my stomach and I couldn’t help but feel bad.
