I wrote this story for Wattpad several years ago, using the prompt of another leap year. Although the story features Richard and Bill from my story "Murder in 1975", it is not truly a sequel. No murders in this one!
"Murder in 1975" ended with Richard and Bill falling in love, as do many love stories. But what happens after that? Do they live happily ever after, or...?
"Love in 1975" is my attempt to explore how relationships might change and grow, if people are willing to take a chance.
1975 was a period of huge social change. The Vietnam war finally ended, Bill Gates and Paul Allen created Microsoft, homosexuality ceased to be a criminal offence in Australia, while "Love will Keep Us Together" by Captain and Tennille, topped the US charts. (Australian audiences preferred ABBA's "Mamma Mia" - with 10 weeks at Number One)
"Love in 1975" was removed from Wattpad in 2015 after it became part of a published Anthology for Wayward Ink. Unfortunately that company is no longer active, so the rights have reverted to me and I can post the story back here on Wattpad.
I don't think it's necessary to read "Murder in 1975" first, but you are certainly welcome to. I wrote the bones of that one a long time ago, some of it on the very typewriter I used for the cover!
I hope you enjoy Love in 1975 :)
